Gangster Kyung Tae goes down to Kanggu with a plan to develop an area of land. It's true he has come on business, however, he plans to go to see Moon Suk, the older sister of his deceased close friend, and her son, Kang Gu. Moon Suk is living the life of a terminally ill patient and runs Kanggu Restaurant with her son, Kang Gu. Kyung Tae does not reveal his identity to Moon Suk, who is still unaware of her brother's death, and begins to go around making arrangements for her.

The Children Are Home is thematically about overseas Chinese who return to the country to establish themselves, focusing on the ideals and aspirations of those born in the 80's and 90's. Zhang Jia Chao, Jiang Meng Meng and Zhang Zhao Yang are cousins. Jia Chao is forced to return home because of her mother's health problem. Meng Meng returns after her schooling. Zhao Yang who is expelled from school moves back without anyone knowing. They each have problems of their own and coming home may just be the answer.

A family of ne'er-do-wells must band together to keep their heads above water when their father and breadwinner passes away, leaving them a mountain of debt. The Engels must all go to work running Dad's storefront law firm, with one minor problem – daughter Jenna Engel is the only one who is qualified to practice law.
