Guardians of Refuge

Guardians of Refuge is a documentary series created by Kevin Keator that follows South African wildlife sanctuaries and the iconic species they protect. Each film-length episode spotlights a different refuge and its residents—from elephants and rhinos (“The Land Giants”) to birds (“The Feathered Whispers”) and big‐cat “Grassland Predators” like lions and cheetahs—capturing day-to-day conservation work, human–wildlife conflict, and the fight to keep habitats viable. Directed by Cissy and Werner Maritz, the series blends intimate animal stories with on-the-ground stewardship inside these sanctuaries.
