Mr. District Attorney is a popular radio crime drama which aired on NBC and ABC from April 3, 1939 to June 13, 1952. The series focused on a crusading D.A., initially known only as "Mister District Attorney," or "Chief", and was later translated to television. On television the D.A. had a name, Paul Garrett, and the radio version picked up this name in the final years when David Brian played the role. A key figure in the dramas was the D.A.'s secretary, Edith Miller.

Tonight Starring Steve Allen is a talk show hosted by Steve Allen. It was the first version of what eventually became known as The Tonight Show. Tonight was the first late-night talk show, as well as the first late night television series of any time to achieve long-term success. Allen's run as host of the show lasted for two and a half seasons, beginning in fall 1954 and ending with Allen's dismissal in January 1957. Stage Show was a popular music variety series on American television originally hosted on alternate weeks by big band leaders and brothers Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. Produced by Jackie Gleason, the CBS-TV show included the first national television appearances by Elvis Presley. The series began as a one-hour show on July 3, 1954 as a summer replacement for The Jackie Gleason Show. Gleason brought it back in the fall of 1955 as a half-hour show and scheduled it from 8–8:30 p.m. ET before his own program on Saturday nights. In 1956, Jack Carter, a frequent guest, became the permanent host. The June Taylor Dancers made regular appearances. Bobby Darin made his national TV debut on the program in early 1956, singing "Rock Island Line". The show's final telecast was September 18, 1956.

The Billy O'Connor Show was a Canadian variety television series which aired on CBC Television from 1954 to 1956. A post-hockey variety show with Billy O’Connor and his trio (Jackie Richardson on bass, Vic Centro on accordion, and Kenny Gill on guitar), produced by Bob Jarvis and Drew Crossan. On August 20, 1955, Juliette made her first regular appearance on the show. Initially part of the ensemble, conflicts between Juliette and O'Connor led to her departure. CBC then created a show centred around her. The program also featured singer Jack Duffy, comic actor, pianist Bill Isbister, and the musical talents of Jackie Richardson, Vic Centro, and Kenny Gill.

Caesar's Hour is a live, hour-long American sketch comedy television program that aired on NBC from 1954 until 1957. The program starred, among others, Sid Caesar, Nanette Fabray, Carl Reiner, Howard Morris, Janet Blair and Milt Kamen, and featured a number of cameo roles by famous entertainers such as Joan Crawford and Peggy Lee. Widely considered a continuation of Caesar's earlier program, Your Show of Shows, Caesar's Hour included most of the same writers and actors, with the notable addition of Larry Gelbart in the latter show. Nanette Fabray replaced Imogene Coca, who opted to star in her own TV series in 1954, The Imogene Coca Show. The writing staff of the show was reunited in 1996 for an event at the Writers Guild Theater in Los Angeles called Caesar's Hour Revisited, excerpts of which were broadcast on PBS under the title Caesar's Writers. The full two-hour special was available on VHS as a pledge premium from PBS. It was released on DVD for the first time on December 12, 2011. The reunion featured Caesar with Mel Tolkin, Neil Simon, Danny Simon, Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Larry Gelbart, Sheldon Keller, Aaron Ruben, and Gary Belkin. The moderator and researcher was Bob Claster.

The program debuted on October 2, 1954, after the ending of Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows, on which Coca had been a popular regular performer. The first two episodes of The Imogene Coca Show center upon the difficulties of a television star starting a new series. Her co-stars were Billy DeWolfe and Ruth Donnelly. The program became a variety show in its third episode, with standard songs, comedy sketches, and weekly guest stars. Then in February 1955, Coca was cast as a newlywed with a husband and two lively neighbors, Helen and Harry Milliken, portrayed, respectively, by Bibi Osterwald and David Burns. Eight years thereafter in the 1963-1964 season, Coca was cast in another NBC situation comedy, Grindl, about the wacky life of a maid working for an employment agency. The Imogene Coca Show aired on Saturday evenings at 9 p.m. EST preceding The Jimmy Durante Show and opposite Two for the Money on CBS. ABC aired Saturday evening boxing at the time. The program was telecast from New York City. It ended after a single season.

The series first aired live in primetime from June 30, 1954 to August 20, 1954, four nights a week from Tuesday to Friday, and from October 1954 to December 1955 five days a week in daytime. A total of 345 episodes were produced. The series began as a segment on The Kate Smith Evening Hour.

The Tony Martin Show is a 15-minute weekly musical variety television series hosted by entertainer Tony Martin, which aired in NBC prime time from April 26, 1954, to February 27, 1956. It was produced by Bud Yorkin and featured the singing group The Interludes and the Hal Bourne and David Rose orchestras, the latter affiliated with The Red Skelton Show. Martin began each episode with a song at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Mondays. Then he chatted with a celebrity guest and urged viewers to remain for the 15-minute nightly newcast, which followed his program. At times, Martin performed popular tunes, such as "Secret Love", "All of You", "All the Things You Are", "Here, "There's No Tomorrow", and "Rainy Day". The first two episodes were filmed in New York City, but then the program shifted to Los Angeles, California, for the remaining segments. Singers Margaret Whiting and Dinah Shore each appeared as guest stars.Shore had her own 15-minute program on NBC from 1951 to 1956, after which she launced the one-hour Dinah Shore Chevy Show. "Our Waltz" served as the series theme song.

The series ran from 1954 to 1955, and was a drama starring Robert Carroll, who played a mysterious man who helped those in distress. The program, produced and distributed by DuMont, aired Friday at 9 PM on most DuMont affiliates. The series was produced and directed by Frank Telford, and was cancelled in 1955, as the DuMont Network began crumbling.

Time Will Tell is an early American game show which aired on the now-defunct DuMont Television Network Fridays at 10:30pm ET from August 27 to October 15, 1954. The show's host, Ernie Kovacs, would go on to host many other shows on both DuMont, ABC, and NBC. Game play involved three contestants answering questions in 90-second rounds, timed with a large hourglass. The program, produced and distributed by the network, aired on most DuMont affiliates on Fridays at 10:30 pm Eastern Time, replacing Gamble on Love which was also hosted by Kovacs in the same time slot. After Time Will Tell ended, DuMont replaced the series with local programming. For DuMont, Kovacs also hosted the panel show One Minute Please and the late-night talk show The Ernie Kovacs Show.
