Kawashima Toshio (Utsui Ken), an assistant professor at a university medical school and an excellent surgeon, becomes mayor after his father-in-law falls ill. The evil hand of organized crime, cleverly disguised, has begun to take hold in the city. Toshio, who has risen up to protect the citizens, is beset with family problems, including the mysterious departure of his beloved wife Yukiko (Hama Mie) from home and the resulting delinquency of his beloved daughter Mayumi (Saito Tomoko). Carrying this heavy burden, Toshio fights with the help of Nagai Masayuki (Kanda Masateru), a young newspaper reporter with whom he has a deep connection. However, in the midst of this struggle, an eerie truth about his missing wife's scandalous past and the shadow of a certain man begin to appear like a mirage...

A home drama that includes comedy, youth, and romance in which two contrasting men who travel all over Japan work together to solve various problems of people they meet from city to city, and in the process deepen their friendship. Junzou Kihara is a trucker transporting luxury foreign vehicles to their destination. Shouhei Taguchi is a salesman who sells teaching materials. Each of them travels all over Japan, but they met in Hokkaido during one winter. Taguchi, whose rental car broke down, was left stranded in the remote wilderness. Kihara passes by and picks up Taguchi. Due to circumstances, a woman in a flashy outfit was also on board. After traveling as three people for a while, Kihara becomes angry at Taguchi who talks too much, and at the time leaves Taguchi behind. They also have personal problems to deal with. Kihara left his wife and child many years before, and Taguchi had been torn between the demands of his wife and his mother.

The Best Ten was a popular music TV program on TBS channel that ran from January 19, 1978 until September 28, 1989, for a total of 603 episodes. It was broadcasted live every Thursday from 21:00 to 21:54. Every week top ten ranking songs were announced from the 10th position to the 1st using a "ranking board", which was inspired by flap displays at international airports. After announcement of the song the artist would usually appear through the "Mirror Gate", chat with the hosts and proceed to perform the song. Some performances were aired from remote locations. The singers were usually accompanied by a live orchestra, although later in the run karaoke also became common. Bo-wen and Dong-nuan work together at a hotel, where they are responsible for public relations. Although the two women are friendly, their different personalities often lead to humorous situations. Dong-nuan becomes jealous when Bo-wen is transferred to Hawaii for six months, causing a brief falling out between them. Meanwhile, their boss, Yao Xia-gu, is often at odds with her subordinates, including Bo-wen and Dong-nuan. When Xia-gu discovers Bo-wen and Dong-nuan working on a magazine, she initially becomes angry but eventually decides to let them stay with the company.
