It was a co-production with subscription television and screened on the UKTV channel on Foxtel. It was produced by Penny Chapman and Sue Masters. The directors were Tony Tilse, Ian Gilmour, Brendan Maher and Ian Watson. The Cooks was about the love and war involving the staff of two restaurants on the same street. R&R's Restaurant was run by chefs Rita and Ruth, with waitress Argentine Carmelita. Across the road at Snatch and Grab, its chefs are Gabe and Sachin, who's of Indian descent, with Dishpig at the sink. The Cooks was a spin-off of a telemovie called Temptation, which screened in 2003, starring Colin Friels as Roberto Francobelli.

Kick

Kick is an Australian television series that was first broadcast on 9 June 2007 on SBS TV. It is set in Brunswick in Melbourne, Australia. The series follows the adventures of wild twenty-something Miki Mavros who is forced to move back in with her Greek-Australian parents on Hope Street after a failed attempt to "make it big". Miki begins work as a secretary for suave Anglo-Indian Dr. Joe Mangeshkar, who has a girlfriend named Jan, and things spiral out of control. Miki manages a local neighbourhood soccer team, hence the series title Kick. The show also follows the adventures of Miki's neighbours on Hope Street, including the Salim family, a Lebanese-Australian Muslim family with siblings Amen, Osama "Ozzie", Taghred and Layla. Amen is an aspiring businessman with questionable ethics. Osama is going through typical teenage angst and has a crush on Taghred's friend Tatiana. Taghred is an aspiring soccer star. Layla is a university student arranged to be married to Sharif, but everything changes when Layla falls for fellow fencer Jackie. The first season of the show is available on DVD.

Nippers is a four-part Australian web-series made by former cell-mates Sam Campbell and Eric Hutton for Comedy Central Australia in 2017. The show ran for approximately ten minutes per episode and was made on a fairly high budget of 85 million dollars an episode. The series features Joaquin Phoenix though he does not voice any characters or appear on screen. Nippers was so successful that after it aired Comedy Central Australia stopped producing local content. It was also planned for television release in New Zealand but was pulled before airing after a promo featuring a junior surf life saver shooting up the popular cocoa drink 'Milo' attracted the ire of the Nestle corporation. Discerning viewers of the show will notice vague themes of surf life saving and even the ocean. Each episode contains coded messages predicting the next four Australian Prime Ministers.
