Leeza is an NBC and syndicated daytime television talk show. It premiered on June 14, 1993 as John & Leeza from Hollywood, hosted by John Tesh and Leeza Gibbons. Tesh left the show after seven months, and on January 17, 1994, the program was retitled Leeza, and Gibbons became the sole host remaining in that capacity throughout the remainder of its run. The show ran on NBC between 1993 and 1999, showing on other stations in markets where the local NBC affiliate pre-empted it in favor of other programming, and then aired as a syndicated program from 1999-2000. It was taped at Paramount Studios on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood, California, and was produced by Gibbons' production company and Paramount Television. Gibbons was also a hands-on executive producer in addition to host of the show, involved in every aspect from selecting show topics to finding guests. Each week, Gibbons worked with her team to track stories and to bring the audience new, in-depth and real perspective on the issues of the time. Recurring topics discussed on the show include: the Columbine High School massacre, the Oklahoma City bombing, JonBenét Ramsey's murder, the O. J. Simpson murder case, Matthew Shepard's murder, the Northridge earthquake, and actor David Strickland's suicide, among others.

Late night panel/table discussion which journalist Jon Ronson hosts on strange, and occasionally not so strange, topics. Many of the guests are people who claim to participate in or study these topics. On the more mundane side, we hear from people who keep fish, are Sikhs, top models or are fans of Lewis Carroll... on the more exotic side we hear from people who claim to be able to time travel, who French kiss their parrots, hold Diana conspiracy theories and belong to flying saucer religions. Ronson is impartial throughout, and does not tend to criticise his four, five or six guests. He occasionally cracks a joke which goes over their heads, but that's it. Most of the time the guests are able to give their opinion freely within the allotted time.

Austin Stories is MTV's first ever prime time situation comedy, which debuted September 10, 1997, and aired Wednesday nights at 10:30 pm. The show aired twelve episodes filmed on location in Austin, Texas. An MTV search brought executives James Jones and Lisa Berger to Austin in 1994. Jones had previous produced The Ben Stiller Show and Berger was vice-president and director of development at the network. MTV scouts were drawn to the city's emerging comedy scene and noticed Laura House, Howard Kremer and Brad "Chip" Pope. They were all discovered at a showcase for MTV at the Laff Stop for professional comics. All three had to pull strings to get on the showcase as none of them had been paid for their comedy. House was a junior high journalism teacher when she was cast on the show. Both she and Brad "Chip" Pope were University of Texas graduates. Originally, the show was only guaranteed 13 episodes on the channel. In March 1997, MTV flew House, Kremer and Pope to Los Angeles to write two scripts in three days. Austin Stories was green-lighted on March 20, 1997 and they often spent 16-hour days working on the show with taping wrapping in November. Their contract expired on May 8, 1998 and MTV extended it for three more weeks before permanently canceling the show on June 1, 1998.
