Rescue Me is a British romantic comedy television series produced by Tiger Aspect Productions and broadcast on BBC One from 3 March to 7 April 2002. It was created, and principally written, by David Nicholls, and stars Sally Phillips as Katie Nash, a woman recovering from a divorce while at the same time writing relationship features for women's magazine Eden. Filming took place from November to December 2001. Six episodes aired, averaging 3.4 million viewers and a 15% audience share in its Sunday night timeslot. The low ratings meant it was not recommissioned for a second series, leaving an unresolved cliffhanger. Nicholls had written four episodes of the unmade second series before discovering the series had been cancelled.

In ancient times, the immortal Fuxi, the King of Humankind, desired to create a paradise called the Eternal Country in the human world. However, he lost Chang'e when she flew to the moon after consuming a magic pill from Yaochi Shengmu. Fuxi blamed Yaochi Shengmu for separating him and Chang'e, and fought with his ex-lover. The elders of the Pangu clan intervened by imprisoning Yaochi Shengmu in Heaven while Fuxi remains in the human world. Fong Tin-yau and Ma Siu-ling are living happily in Heaven after their success in 2001. However, in 2004, Yaochi Shengmu breaks free and introduces a deadly virus to wipe out the entire Pangu clan.

Golf comes from a rich background but refuses to rely on his mother and struggles to make a living by selling things in the JJ market. His dream is to become a singer because he believes it is a way to help the nature like how his deceased father had once done before drowning in the sea. Although he faces constant obstacles, he refuses to back down. Loosely based on the baseball writing of W. P. Kinsella, the series was set in a world populated by anthropomorphic birds, and centred on the minor league baseball team in the town of Mynaville. The baseball games were represented by placing two-dimensional characters in three-dimensional backgrounds. Then, through Kotaki's introduction, she becomes acquainted with Kito, a political fixer, and decides to become Kito's mistress. Although she notices that her decision may not be right, she decides to follow her instincts and go for the "animal trail"….
