Samedi de rire was a Radio-Canada sketch comedy show in Quebec that aired from 1985 to 1989. Cast members of the series included Yvon Deschamps and Normand Brathwaite. The québécois analogue to Saturday Night Live, the title is itself a clever play on words: it literally means "Saturday of laughs", but is phonetically pronounced similar to ça me dit de rire, or "I feel like laughing".

Follow the adventures of 9-year-old Louison, who unwittingly releases a bunch of monsters that had been locked away for centuries in an ancient book guarded by a little pink magic pony named Jean-Pierre. Louison then turns into the superhero Wonder Pony and must rein in the monsters she released.

Jack is a spirited 10-year-old with an extraordinary ability: he can transform into any animal he wishes.

Bénédicte, Martine, and Juliette were classmates who formed an inseparable trio. Fifteen years later, Bénédicte and Martine return to their small native town of Pithiviers for Juliette’s funeral. But Juliette remains present in Bénédicte and Martine’s remembrances and through her eighteen-year-old daughter Scarlett, who bears a striking resemblance.

The miniseries, for the most part, charts the AIDS epidemic in France from 1980 – present through the microcosm of a family, but particularly through their gay son Nicolas, who narrates the story.
