Set in the 18th century, the show follows the Shogun Yoshimune, who likes to disguise himself as a low-ranking samurai and go into his capital of Edo to see the life of the common man, as well as to seek out and punish evildoers who would hurt his citizens. He is aided by Magistrate Oo'oka and a vivacious fireman, Tatsugoro, as well as a rotating cast of other recurring characters. Along with Zenigata Heiji and Mito Kōmon, it ranks among the longest-running series in the jidaigeki genre. Like so many other jidaigeki, it falls in the category of kanzen-chōaku, loosely, "rewarding good and punishing evil."

In a distant future, Tetsuro is a human boy who wants his body replaced with a robotic one. This is possible, but to do so he has to reach the Immortal Planet onboard the space train Galaxy Express 999. Maetel, a beautiful and mysterious blonde woman dressed in Russian style, joins him in the long journey through space. Every episode sees our heroes arriving in a new planet's space train station.

Meanwhile, Huang and Wenjun's enemies conspire to take him down.

This was the first taiga drama to concentrate on the lives of commoners and the reviled merchant class of the Tokugawa period. It documents the rise and fall of the merchant city of Sakai, as seen by its most famous resident, the semilegendary Luzon.

Benio Hanamura is a 17-year-old schoolgirl in Tokyo during the Taisho era. Benio lost her mother when she was very young and has been raised by her father, a high-ranking official in the Japanese army. As a result, she has grown into a tomboy—contrary to traditional Japanese notions of femininity, she studies kendo, drinks sake, dresses in often outlandish-looking Western fashions, and isn't as interested in housewife duties as she is in literature. She also rejects the idea of arranged marriages and believes in a woman's right to a career and to marry for love. Benio's best friends are the beautiful Tamaki, who is much more feminine than Benio but equally interested in women's rights, and Ranmaru, a young man who was raised to play female roles in the kabuki theater and as a result has acquired very effeminate mannerisms.

The series follows the adventures of Go, a superhero leading a patrol who travel in time to defeat the Godmess Empire, an alien armada who, after landing on Earth 70 million years ago, has altered the course of time. Go's enemies include dinosaurs which are telepathically controlled by the aliens. He has the ability to stop time for 30 seconds.

"Guardian Angel" is a hilarious and satirical comedy about ghosts. The story takes place in an old house where a couple lived until the wife's infidelity is revealed and the husband decides to murder her lover. In the process, they accidentally kill the construction worker Ah Kit, whose ghost haunts the place. The couple sells the house to newlyweds Tang and Ma who face a series of strange occurrences. As they settle in, they realize that the ghost is friendly and helpful, even assisting with household chores. The couple becomes friends with the ghost, and she helps them with everything she can. Eventually, the kind-hearted ghost must be reincarnated, leaving the couple heartbroken. The film's hilarious antics suggest that humans and ghosts can coexist in harmony, while humans living together may have issues among themselves.

Kawashima Toshio (Utsui Ken), an assistant professor at a university medical school and an excellent surgeon, becomes mayor after his father-in-law falls ill. Based on novel 1962 "Kyukei no Koya" by Seicho Matsumoto. A serial murder occurs around the heroine Kumiko because she finds evidence that her father, who should have died, was "alive." Set in 1945, near the end of WW II, Kenichiro Nogami is reported to have died in a Swiss hospital. In fact, he is working behind the scenes to save Japan from destruction. For this cause, Kenichiro Nogami has left behind his wife and nation to work in hiding.

A home drama that includes comedy, youth, and romance in which two contrasting men who travel all over Japan work together to solve various problems of people they meet from city to city, and in the process deepen their friendship. Junzou Kihara is a trucker transporting luxury foreign vehicles to their destination. Shouhei Taguchi is a salesman who sells teaching materials. Each of them travels all over Japan, but they met in Hokkaido during one winter. Taguchi, whose rental car broke down, was left stranded in the remote wilderness. Kihara passes by and picks up Taguchi. Due to circumstances, a woman in a flashy outfit was also on board. After traveling as three people for a while, Kihara becomes angry at Taguchi who talks too much, and at the time leaves Taguchi behind. They also have personal problems to deal with. Kihara left his wife and child many years before, and Taguchi had been torn between the demands of his wife and his mother.
