Hot Shots

Hot Shots was a short-lived Canadian television drama series, which aired on CBS in the United States in 1986, and CTV in Canada in 1987. The series, produced by CTV for the CBS Late Night block of crime drama series, starred Dorothy Parke and Booth Savage as Amanda Reed and Jake West, crime journalists for the tabloid magazine Crime World. The cast also included Paul Burke, Clark Johnson, Heather Smith and Mung Ling. Only twelve episodes of the show were produced. Its producers went on to create Diamonds the following year.

Katha Sagar was a popular Indian television series that aired on DD National in 1986. The series was directed by Shyam Benegal along with many renowned directors. The series featured a collection of stories by world famous short story writers such as Guy De Maupassant, Rabindranath Tagore, Leo Tolstoy, O. Henry, Anton Chekov etc. The series had different stories in each episode and most of the stories in the series were one-episode long. At that time, many other shows like "Darpan" and "Ek Kahaani", based on similar concept were aired around the same time as this series on DD National. The Girl From Steel City is an Australian television series that first screened on the SBS network in 1986 and 1987. The series was the first continuing drama series on SBS. The Girl From Steel City told the story of Stacey Maniatis, a Greek-Australian girl living in Wollongong, who was determined to have a career as a singer. The second series saw Stacey move from Wollongong to Sydney to further her career as a singer but then became an investigative journalist. The series was mostly in English but contained some Greek dialogue with English subtitles. It was written by Angelo Loukakis, directed by Peter Andrikidis and produced by John Martin and Colin Baker. Music was produced by Tony Karras.
