Magical Hat is an anime series by Studio Pierrot. The 33 episode series aired on Fuji Television from October 18, 1989 to July 6, 1990. The series stars Hat, the descendant of a hero who fought an evil king and sealed Devildom. Hat falls into Devildom and finds he has to defeat the evil king. The Sega Mega Drive game Magical Hat no Buttobi Tabo! Daibōken is based on this series; in Western regions the game uses different characters and is named Decap Attack.

Takeru Yagi lives a normal, average life. He lives with his adoptive father Rokunosuke, and eats breakfast with two neighborhood girls, the sisters Asuka and Kotono. Takeru attends a kendo club at school with his best friend and rival Takeshi. It's an idyllic, peaceful life, where the greatest drama is whether Takeru or Takeshi will represent the school at the kendo tournament. Then one day, everything changes. Lion Games' Korean online role-playing game Soul Worker is inspiring an anime that will be streamed online. The publisher NHN PlayArt made the announcement at a press conference marking the completion of the game. The press conference showed an animatic preview and the storyboards for the anime.

Himitsu no Akko-chan is a pioneering magical girl manga and anime that ran in Japan during the 1960s. The manga was drawn and written by Fujio Akatsuka, and was published in Ribon from 1962 to 1965. It predates the Mahōtsukai Sunny manga, printed in 1966. However, that title is the first magical girl anime as Himitsu no Akko-chan was not broadcast until 1969. The original anime ran for 94 episodes from 1969 to 1970. It was animated by Toei Animation and broadcast by TV Asahi. It has been remade twice, in 1988 and in 1998. Two Akko-chan movies were made in 1989 and five were created between 1969 and 1973. It also adapted into a live action film released in September 1, 2012.

Taichi Nishimura is a typical, average high schooler, and Azuma Rin is a beautiful woman with the build of a model and excellent reflexes. One day, while on his normal runs with bad luck, he meets an Angel named Elle, and he finds out that his father wished the curse of bad luck upon him. Takeshi has the oppurtunity to pass on the curse, but accepts it to save a young girl. For his noble act, Elle becomes human and lives with Takeshi to protect him from the curse, which is something Takeshi isn't particularly happy with.

Goro Kumagaya is an established, tall middle-school goalkeeper who wanted to enter Yokonan high-school that is considered to be among the elites in terms of its football club, only to fail and end up in the lowly-ranked school opposite to Yokonan because of an accident. However, he met Shingo, Hideki and Kazuhito Oda who are all skillful footballers there and together in the Kawasaki High School football club, they challenge Yokonan and any other schools that they have to face in order to improve and become the champions. Any setbacks that they face would instead be an opportunity for a better improvement; one of which was the discovery of Goro's natural talent as an ace striker.

After Japan's economic bubble burst the country slowly recovered, but dirty politicians still make deals with dirty businessmen so that they can both profit from the hard work of others.
