Sonnet is a cyborg/esper from a harsh background and now trained to be the ultimate warrior and most powerful weapon in the world. She is sent to Japan to watch Komatsuzaki Lan, who is thought to be controlled by the rage of the esper Akai Kiba (Crimson Fang). Lan is a quiet girl who knows she`s different from everybody else and starts to show signs of Crimson Fang after comming into contact with Sonnet. In the course of fighting with Lan, Sonnet starts to rediscover her humanity. At the same time Lan has to fight to retain her humanity and control the Crimson Fang.

The California Raisin Show is an animated television series based on the claymation advertising characters The California Raisins. The show is based on an Emmy Award-winning claymation special, Meet the Raisins!, which originally aired on CBS in 1989. After the show's 13-episode run, a sequel to the original special, Raisins: Sold Out!: The California Raisins II, aired in 1990. While the characters are traditionally depicted in claymation, the TV show was cel animated by Murakami-Wolf-Swenson. It did, however, maintain Will Vinton as creative director and executive producer. It takes place in a world populated by anthropomorphic fruits and vegetables and focuses on the main characters, the California Raisins: A.C., Beebop, Stretch, and Red. Each episode has one or more musical numbers.

Amada Anime Series: Super Mario Bros. is a series of three direct-to-video OVAs produced by Studio Junio, licensed by Nintendo, and released on VHS tapes on August 3, 1989, exclusively in Japan. The plot of the episodes involve characters from the Mario franchise in the stories of three fairy tales: Momotarō, Issun-bōshi and Snow White.

A silhouette animation anthology TV series conceived, written and directed by Michel Ocelot and realised at La Fabrique, consisting of short fantastical stories performed by the same animated "actors." A critical success but commercial failure at the time, no further episodes were commissioned beyond the initial 8, but, following the success of Ocelot's Kirikou and the Sorceress, 6 were edited into the 2000 feature Princes and Princesses, in which form they finally saw wide exposure and acclaim both in France and internationally; a further episode was included in a home release of short works in 2008, but one remains unavailable for public consumption.

The story takes place in old Tokyo, the Tokyo of August-September 1923. At this moment in time, the city is a mixture of extremes... past and present, rich and poor, good and bad. This is a city where we see both horsecarts and motorcars, swords and pistols, lords and businessmen. A wealthy woman from an upper-class family finds herself attracted to a handsome young man, Taka. He and his younger brother seem to be allied, perhaps not entirely willingly, with some of the city's criminal underground (Yakuza). The lady's lovely young maidservant, Sara, meets him too, and a conflict ensues which can only lead to tragedy, passion, and dishonor. But, as events move on, and the days pass, the viewer sees a terrible date coming closer... that unforgettable day of September 1, 1923, at 11:58, when the Great Kanto Earthquake and tidal wave struck Tokyo, causing the death of almost 100,000 people, one of the greatest disasters in human history.

The Smoggies was a French and Canadian animated children's television show by Cinar that began airing in 1988. In the United States, the show was aired under the name Stop the Smoggies in 1994 on HBO, and in France, as SOS Polluards. In the French part of Canada, it was aired under the name Touftoufs et Polluards. The show was broadcast in Ireland under its original Canadian title.

Pilot for unproduced X-Men series for NBC, focusing on the matter-phasing Shadow Cat, alias Kitty Pryde. Long Ago and Far Away is a TV series that aired on PBS Television from 1989 to 1993. It was created by WGBH, a public television broadcast service located in Boston, Massachusetts. WGBH is a member of PBS, which allowed for this TV series to be viewed on various other PBS stations. Each episode began with host James Earl Jones sitting in a chair in a room with a table, lamp and window. The walls were blue with white dots in order to make it appear as if these living room items were sitting out in space. James Earl Jones talks during the short opening section, then acts as narrator for the balance of an episode. This series, aimed at children aged six to nine years old, presents stories based on traditional fairy tales. A number of presentation methods were used to tell these stories, with stop motion animation, live-action or cel animation being used depending on the episode. Long Ago and Far Away also featured a number of guest narrators including: Tammy Grimes, Kim Loughran, David Suchet, and Mia Farrow.

This slapstick comedy is about three pretty girls struggling to earn a living as pilots of the Iron Goblin delivery vessel. The computer answers back, the space pirates are on their tail, and romantic entanglements with their clients cause friction in the trio. The final episode throws the alien Eterna race in to the mix.

Magical Hat is an anime series by Studio Pierrot. The 33 episode series aired on Fuji Television from October 18, 1989 to July 6, 1990. The series stars Hat, the descendant of a hero who fought an evil king and sealed Devildom. Hat falls into Devildom and finds he has to defeat the evil king. The Sega Mega Drive game Magical Hat no Buttobi Tabo! Daibōken is based on this series; in Western regions the game uses different characters and is named Decap Attack.

Luka and Lumi Kobayakawa are twin sisters in love with the same man, athletic upperclassman Katsuyuki Touma. Honeybee Hutch (みなしごハッチ, Minashigo Hatchi, lit. Hutch the Orphan) is a 1989 remake of the 1971 classic anime series The Adventures of Hutch the Honeybee. The show follows the original series' main storyline, and tells the adventure of a young bee who searches for his missing queen bee mother. Like the 1970 show, this remake is notable for its sad and cruel scripts, often featuring the deaths of the protagonist's friends

Los Trotamúsicos was a Spanish animated series broadcast from 1989 and spent nearly a decade on TVE's schedule. Based on the Brothers Grimm story, Town Musicians of Bremen, the series follows the story of four animal friends who form a band in the playing respectively guitar, drums, trumpet and saxophone.

It's a British/German cartoon with 51 episodes of 5 minutes. It's about a blue raven called Ric, an optimist who tries things out for fun.

The Poddington Peas is an animated British children's television series made by Paul Needs and Colin Wyatt; the single series has 13 episodes and was first aired on the BBC in 1989. The theme song describes the peas as being "down at the bottom of the garden". Human size garden objects, giant in size to them, are seen such as up turned flower pots serving as most of their buildings. Humans themselves are never seen or mentioned. In 1992, writer Phil Gardner was employed by Poddington plc to help write some new episodes - including one intended to pilot the series in the USA, and featuring a new group of characters, the Bugz. however these were never published. There were also paper back books by Paul Needs, illustrated by Colin Wyatt and published by Box Tree / Award Publications. The paper back books including new titles will be released with a new AP and merchandise to complement these titles is being prepared for release in 2013.

Huxley Pig is a stop-motion animated children's television series from 1989 and 1990. Based on the picture books by Rodney Peppé, the series was produced by FilmFair for Central TV. It was narrated by Martin Jarvis.

In 1967, French TV broadcast a dramatised adaptation of the series, Les Aventures de Michel Vaillant. 13 episodes in total, it featured stories written and filmed around the real life World Sportscar Championship, documenting Henri Grandsire driving an Alpine 110, interspersed with dramatic interludes acted by Grandsire himself. Episodes offer close up rare contemporary footage of races and cars that year at the Rallye Du Nord, Magny Cours, Nürburgring, Monza, Targa Florio, Le Mans, Monaco, Rouen-Les-Essarts, Sebring and Reims.

Parasol Henbe is a Japanese anime series produced and directed by Fujiko Fujio in 1989 which ran for 200 episodes and was translated into many languages - Chinese, English, Hebrew and Spanish amongs them. Abiko also adapted the series into a manga.

Hello Kitty and Friends, also known as Sanrio World Masterpiece Cinema Series in Japan, is a series of Japanese direct-to-video animations starring Hello Kitty, Mimmy, and other Sanrio characters. The original Japanese OVAs were produced from 1989 all the way up to 1998. Out of the 80 OVAs produced, only 30 were dubbed into English and compiled into a TV series. This anime aired on Toon Disney in the United States and on YTV in Canada. 13 OVAs with Hello Kitty, 10 with Keroppi, 4 with Pekkle, 2 with Pochacco and only 1 with Patty and Jimmy were dubbed into English. Two similar shows, Hello Kitty's Paradise and Hello Kitty's Animation Theater, as well as Growing Up With Hello Kitty, would follow this series between the mid 1990s and the early 2000s.

Bangers and Mash was a children's cartoon series broadcast on CITV in 1989, and repeated until around 1993. The series consisted of 24 five minute episodes.

Time Travel Tondekeman is an anime series directed by Kunihiko Yuyama and Akira Sugino. It was written by Junki Takegami and produced by Animax network president Masao Takiyama. It was originally broadcast by Fuji Television in Japan between 19 October 1989 and 26 August 1990. Time Quest, as it was called outside Japan, was first aired in the Philippines in 1994 by IBC-13. It was rerun in ABC-5 in 1999. It also was aired in Indosiar, Indonesia during 1995, and it was rerun in Space Toon Indonesia since the year 2008.

Paddy, who lives with his sister Melodie on his grandparents' farm, experiences a variety of weird adventures with the animals around him, such as the talking raven Loewie, who constantly makes funny jokes. He also often has trouble with a neighboring boy, Fred. Only Paddy can evoke a mysterious blue man, Onyx, who has magical abilities and solves problems for Paddy.
