El Pecado de Oyuki is a Mexican telenovela produced by Televisa in 1988. It was based on an original story by Yolanda Vargas Dulché, who also adapted the screenplay for television. The original comic book series was in the style of the foto-novela. For the role of Oyuki, the photographer selected the Mexican Japanese Sachiko Tsuchiya. Born in Tepic, Nayarit, she became the most recognizable Asian Mexican of her time. The telenovela was shown in the United States in 1988 through Univision. Dulché's story was also adapted for Brazilian television in 1967 and as a comic published starting April 11, 1975 by Grupo Editorial Vid. The Brazilian version was called "Yoshiko, um poema de amor" and starred actors Luis Gustavo and Rosa Miake.

Wagle Ki Duniya (literally: 'Wagle's World') was a popular sitcom on Indian television that originally aired between 1988 and 1990. It was directed by Kundan Shah and was based on characters created by noted cartoonist R. K. Laxman, especially "the common man" about the issues of common middle-class Indian man. It starred Anjan Srivastav as a bumbling salesclerk in a multinational company and Bharati Achrekar as his wife. The series was a hit and made Anjan Srivastav a household name.

Park Avenue was a daily teletext based soap opera on ITV's ORACLE Teletext service, which was written by Robbie Burns. It was launched in 1988, and 1,445 episodes were written during its time on air. It later moved to Channel 4 after ORACLE was reorganised, before ending when the service lost its franchise at the end of 1992.
