In the early 20th century, the Montes de Oca family—comprising two sisters and a cousin—finds itself entangled in an intense love triangle. Matilde is in love with her cousin Rodrigo, who loves the other sister, Branca Flor; she, in turn, loves a humble fisherman. Upon discovering this, Rodrigo accuses the fisherman of theft, leading to his arrest. The lovestruck cousin’s malice knows no bounds; learning that Branca Flor is carrying the fisherman's child, he waits for the baby to be born so he can make it disappear.

Hillside

Hillside (known as Fifteen in the United States) is a Canadian-American teen drama that aired on YTV in Canada from 1991 to 1993. Created and produced by John T. Binkley, the series was Nickelodeon's only teenage soap opera. The show was shot on videotape, similar to most daytime dramas. The series was first conceived as Fifteen in an improvised form for The Disney Channel, where a 13-episode pilot series was produced and tested in the U.S. After Disney decided not to proceed with the project, Nickelodeon and Canadian partners joined Binkley in producing the series which was known in its first and second seasons as Hillside in Canada, and throughout the 65-episode run as Fifteen in the U.S. The show was subsequently syndicated around the world, with runs in Germany and Israel, among others. The series features a large ensemble cast which underwent several changes over the show's four-season run. Notable cast members include Laura Harris, Enuka Okuma, and Ryan Reynolds.

The story's theme is spiritualism, viewed through the lens of past-life regression. Floriano Ferraz is a skeptical sculptor tormented by severe shoulder pain and visions of a woman dying at his feet. Exhausted, and encouraged by his master and friend, the craftsman Quirino, he seeks the help of psychiatrist Ulisses. Through regression techniques, he discovers that in 1880, in the city of Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, he was Lieutenant Belmiro, in love with the young Valentina. The young woman, married to an older man, is seriously injured while trying to flee with her beloved. After suffering a sword blow, she loses her balance and falls from the third floor of a mansion, at Belmiro's feet. Before dying, however, Valentina arranges a meeting with the lieutenant in the future. The experience completely transforms Floriano's life, and he decides to abandon everything, including his girlfriend Antônia, to pursue his past.

Chances was an Australian evening soap opera, produced from 1991 to 1992. It told the story of the average middle-class Taylor family whose lives are transformed by winning $3 million in the lottery. The series was broadcast by the Nine Network, initially as two one-hour episodes each week. Principal cast members included John Sheerin and Brenda Addie as Dan and Barbara Taylor, Jeremy Sims as their mischievous son Alex, Deborah Kennedy as Dan's sister Connie Reynolds, Tim Robertson as Dan's brother Jack, Anne Grigg as his wife Sarah, and Michael Caton as neighbourhood friend Bill Anderson. Originally, creator Lynn Bayonas pitched the show as a family-oriented drama; however to help ensure the program's success, Channel Nine asked for nude scenes and risqué elements to also be included in the series. Initial publicity for the show focused on the sex angle, and it was for this that Chances was chiefly known.

Police chief Fernándo Gomez Miranda kills his friend, the well-respected lawyer and likely candidate for Attorney General, Raúl de Los Reyes and his youngest daughter of only thirteen in a vehicle ambush. Gomez' son, Luis Mario – a sad-eyed broadcast journalist of passionate conviction – arrives on the scene soon after with his camera and discovers a wounded survivor in the car; Camila, the eldest daughter of de Los Reyes. Luis rushes her to the hospital, saving her life and thereby creating a bond between them that he cannot escape. Luis' half-brother, police detective Alfonso Carbajal, is assigned to the case. An old schoolmate of Camila's, Alfonso has long been in love with her and conflicts arise when all evidence points to Camila being involved in the drug trade. The two brothers find themselves caught between their professional duty that would require them to expose Camila and their desire to protect her.

Ghar Jamai revolves around a North Indian father-in-law (Satish Shah) and his South Indian son-in-law (R Madhavan). Their continuous bickering and trying to take each other down is the premise of the show. A Punjabi father-in-law, Mr Mehra, who never left a chance to trouble his Malayali live-in son-in-law, Subramaniam Namboodiripad AKA Subbu. However, quick-witted Subbu always managed to foil Mehra's plans. The duo was always at loggerheads, and their chemistry was the USP of the show. While the father-in-law and the son-in-law loved to hate each other, Chandni (Mandira Bedi) used to get caught in the crossfire. In the show Satish Shah's Mr Mehra and Madhavan's Subbu are like Tom and Jerry, always trying to get the best of each other. Ghar Jamai came to an end when Madhavan decided to quit the show after Mani Ratnam offered him Alaipayuthey. He gained instant recognition with the Tamil film and went on to deliver many hits down South.
