Sistiaga, une histoire basque

José Antonio Sistiaga is one of the greats in Basque contemporary art. Through lively exchanges begun in 1993 with his Salvadoran friend Manuel Sorto, we plunge into Sistiaga's intellectual intimacy and travel through a Basque history, following the steps of this experimental filmmaker and artist. This nearly two-decades-old project was taken up again in 2011, with the filming of the installation of Sistiaga's retrospective exhibition in San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain.

Metal Politics Taiwan

Freddy Lim is a founder and singer of the famous black metal band Chthonic from Taiwan. Apart from that, he has been a member of the Taiwanese parliament since 2016, sitting on the committees for National Defence and Foreign Affairs. He is a member of a coalition working closely with Taiwan's first-ever female president. The film accompanies the rock star politician for his first year in political office as he opposes China's policy towards Taiwan and Tibet. As an activist fighting for human rights, he meets with the Dalai Lama, but also takes part in Donald Trump's inauguration even though he has many reservations about him. Freddy Lim is on the front line. But he still occasionally puts on his face paint and sings in a diabolical voice at the front of his black metal band. Strangely, the two worlds are coming together.

T.R.A.P

A mystical place, an enchanted story: A group of knights, imported directly from the Middle Ages, go ashore on the banks of the Río de la Plata. They are searching for a grave where they wish to perform a ritual. As they pass through the jungle, things happen that cause them to land in the present day. They have sex, find a car, enjoy a sunset with beers in their hands. Then an announcement comes over the radio that makes everything appear in a different light, and there’s no going back.

If and Only If

Igor Stravinsky composed Elegy for Viola in 1994 “so that Germain Prévost could play it in memory of Alphonse Onnou, founder of the Pro Arte Quartet”. Tribute and lament, the piece is played here by Gérard Caussé, assisted, if one can say so, by a garden banded snail. Riding the bow, the gastropod goes from the bottom to the top of the stick during the music. The title, which is a logic expression that imposes a double condition simultaneously, points to the link between animal and human, between music and silence, between seeing and listening, between two astonishments, two sliding virtuosities.

Raging Royan

"Royan la Rage" is the crossed portrait of a family facing his visceral need to desire. André, the father, has no more wishes. To feel free to be and to desire, he has to get rid of his money. All The Stations - The Documentary

For fifteen weeks between May and August 2017, Geoff Marshall and Vicki Pipe travelled to all 2,563 Railway Stations in Britain, producing and publishing multiple videos every week online. A few months after they'd finished they then sat down to reflect upon the journey, talk about the railways and produce this .. the feature length Documentary. Contains new footage, that was not previously published in the daily videos. A huge thanks (as always) to our Kickstarter backers for making this happen!

Global Family

Yasmin has lived an almost normal life as a German ever since she was three years old. The family fled from Somalia during the civil war and now lives scattered around the globe. When Yasmin's grandmother no longer wants to stay in her Ethiopian exile, a transnational family drama evolves, circling around the essential question: Where is Granny to live? And suddenly, the family confronts their own aspirations: Have they actually arrived where they want to be? GLOBAL FAMILY is a twistful documentary about a transnational family drama, in which four generations of a refugee family each pursue their own dreams of family, home, and future.

Dawn

New Mexico, July 1945. In this land, the paths of an old farmer and a young Navajo boy cross, just prior to a world-changing event. This visual narrative piece features beautiful imagery and composition by Vancouver’s Todd Duym, which won him the award for Best Cinematography in a Short Drama at the Leo Awards in early June. It’s a poetic, silent contemplation of the beautiful landscapes and a memorable day long ago, recalled by the boy, now an old man who knows the implications of what he witnessed that morning. This is a powerful indictment of American military nuclear testing and its effects on Native Americans.
