The company of four guests, two guys and two girls, was very noisy, they were constantly walking up and down the stairs, laughing loudly and talking loudly. The receptionist made a remark to them, the guests calmed down and went to their rooms. Ten minutes passed. And then the door of one of the rooms opened with a bang and a barefoot guy in underpants ran out of there, holding his stomach, and rushed down the stairs to the street. The hotel security guard met the runner in the courtyard and saw that there was a deep wound on his stomach. "She cut me with a knife," the wounded man said with difficulty. A day later he died in the hospital. The investigation began. The victim's name was Sergey Cherkaykin.

Karavaichuk. Beyond Love

In Soviet times it was impossible to go to a concert of composer Oleg Karavaichuk. Because there weren’t any. Karavaychuk’s eccentricity was too bewildering for the culture officials of that time, and he was practically banned from performing in public. He began to work at the Lenfilm Studio and write film music there. Recognition came to Karavaichuk only in the 2000s. It is summer 2015 and Oleg Karavaichuk gives his “Pure Music” concert. Half a year later he travels to Spain, where rehearses again. While there he meets with journalists and talks about how he senses the smell of death in the streets of ancient Pamplona.

When The Morning Came

Her name is Ida Frank and she is over 90 years old. Born during the Civil War, she fought during the Second World War where she survived three concentration camps. After the war, she worked as a pediatrician for 50 years. On the screen, Ida Frank's monologue is an autobiographical tale that speaks of her life, of choice even when there seems to be none. It is a rare blend of sincerity and agreed language, deeply personal, objective and uncompromising. The story of this woman combines the optimism of youth, the spirit, self-deprecation and a fighting character, all forming a powerful agreement.

However, Tanechka is sure that “every new day reveals something unknown and secret” and wants to tell about those events of her childhood that still cause her, already an adult woman, either tears or great joy. Looking out the window at her peers, the wise heroine asks: “Why do children play all the time? When do they think? Probably never, that's why they are happy? "

KVN: Birth Certificate

November 8, 2016 marked the 55th anniversary of the airing of the very first KVN program. The "Fun and Resourceful Club" has known good and bad times: for censorship reasons, it was closed in 1972, and revived only in 1986. But even without the broadcast, KVN existed on the student and amateur stages, lived, developed, and changed along with the time and the country. There is no such TV centenarian in the world. So who are they, the inventors of this "perpetual motion machine": Muratov, Yakovlev and Axelrod?

TALES

A fairy tale is not a metaphor or an allegory: everything in it is literal. There are strange fairy tales and tales written in kid tongues, untranslatable ones. They don't have morals, but they do have shapeshifting and bewitchment. Your favorite fairy tale is a self-fulfilling prophecy or an inverted one. “Tales” is a dedication to lost films assembled from fragments, films that were rotting in attics, born in the era before Griffith and were cut off suddenly. I achieved the effect of pure affirmation with images whose nature and logic almost cannot be grasped, like a dream or first memories. It can be said, that these are fairy tales from the early childhood of cinema, such as I remember them.

This film is about Lyudmila (Lyala) Stanukinas, a documentary filmmaker, widow of director Pavel Kogan. The film was shot for 4 years as a chronicle, in the style of a"home handheld camera". But this is not a story about a director, but about a woman struggling with loneliness, who keeps love in her heart with all her might. The heroine exists in the episodes of the film without any author's comments. Also, the plot consists of fragments, "scraps" of old films, chronicles.

A Place of Being

Maison d'Être is an exploratory documentary about people's emotional place attachment in highly dynamic Greater Paris undergoing large-scale urban renewal campaigns. Parisien suburbia has been a frontier between world civilisations where wellbeing encounters despair. Here local habits get confronted by government-sponsored plans for urban transformation and social aid. The film is addressed to both professional audiences of urbanists, city planners, architects, and curious public. It displays numerous conversations among residents, city activists, politicians, city planners and scientists, those who reflect on the regeneration strategy of the socially depressed urban neighbourhoods.

Marina sets up a small private bakery, baking day and night to ensure the family survives. When debris from a Proton M rocket crash-lands on the mountain pasture, narrowly missing the cabin, Boris and Marina demand a large sum of compensation money from the Russian space agency Roscosmos. Descent into Fungal

Andrey Shental's Descent into the Fungal' is dedicated to the planetary power of mushrooms. The narrative is divided into two storylines. The main one is a popular presentation of basic scientific facts and latest discoveries in the field of mycology. This storyline is interleaved with utterances of the fungal bodies themselves, which declaim something akin to their own particular credo or manifesto. This combination results in it becoming clear that the relationships the fungi foster with their surroundings (mycorhiza, parasitism, saprotrophy and endophytia) refer unambiguously to contemporary political programmes. In addressing the human audience, the turbantop, hard-skinned puffball, saffron milk cap and other fungi present revolutionary scenarios and a programme for a future world order on non-human grounds, anticipating the struggle against human capitalism.
