The Flames of Me

How do you rebuild your sense of self after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder? Daniel Léger experienced his first manic episode in his early thirties. With courage and vulnerability, he recounts how his diagnosis shook his identity to the core. Through striking images created with fire and soot by visual artist Steven Spazuk, the film depicts Léger’s personality in rich nuances of shadow and light. The transformations paint a sensitive portrait of a man who, despite his mental health struggles, has been able to rise from the ashes.

Girls Dance at the World’s Fair

There are two particularly striking dance sequences in Medicus's footage. One section shows pairs of young people—mostly pairs of women—exuberantly jitterbugging and Lindy-hopping to live brass accompaniment, seemingly spontaneously though many of the pairs have come in matching outfits. Elsewhere, topless burlesque dancers in sequined skirts spin in a hall of mirrors, multiplying them hundreds of times "from every conceivable angle," as advertised.

The Little Town That Could

The Little Town That Could explores the story of how the tiny town of Goodwood, Ontario became the backdrop for Schitt’s Creek, one of the most beloved TV shows in Canadian television history. Through interviews with residents, shop owners, and members of the production team, this short documentary captures how Goodwood has balanced the excitement and disruption of sudden fame. From tourists crowding the “Rose Apothecary” to businesses navigating unexpected attention, it’s a story of what is gained - and quietly lost - when a peaceful community becomes a stage for pop culture and nostalgia.
