The Sea in Bambor

Fisherman Volodya lives in the Abkhazian village of Bambora on the Black Sea coast. A former thief and murderer, today he is a hospitable host and an exemplary family man. The sea became for Volodya not only a source of survival in post-war Abkhazia, but also a refuge from the bustle of the outside world. Children, animals, mountains, grapes, Abkhazia seems like an earthly paradise, but traces of shells on the walls and military helicopters in the sky constantly remind of its fragility.

Place of Gorenstein

The main thing for a real writer and his readers is texts. A biography is a less significant thing. Most readers of Don Quixote do not know the biography of Cervantes and do not particularly need it. But sometimes the biography of a writer can become an explanation for the incident of a genius who turned out to be unnecessary or unidentified, unrecognized. This is precisely the case of Friedrich Gorenstein, the author of Andrey Rublev's monologues in Tarkovsky's film and the screenwriter of his own "Solaris", the author of the dialogues in Konchalovsky's film "The First Teacher" and co-author with him of the script for the film "Slave of Love"

A Book of Dreams

Almost a third of everyone's life is spent in a dream, but this state of "life" is poorly understood. What if consciousness is not asleep? What if everyone is the creator of their own universe, but does not remember about it?.. A number of experiments on the study of sleep were conducted in order to fix the connection between the consciousness of the sleeper and the physiological reaction of the body. Where does consciousness go every night and how does it come in the morning? In the film, the viewer is waiting for interviews with people who are professionally engaged in the study of dreams, the issues of the relationship of religions to dreams, archetypes of interpretation of dreams (the language of the unconscious) and working with them as a way of studying personality are touched upon. The mechanisms of "awareness" of oneself in a dream are considered.

The cassette with the materials of which the film was edited, was found in the archive of film documents. Judging by the nature of filming, it has been recorded by a cameraman in the 90-s for the documentary plot or story. Or probably it's just a video diary about a vacation, taken with professional skill. But in the end, it turned out that 20 years later the found panoramas of sea and mountain landscapes of Crimea inspired the director and the composer for the creation of video pieces for flute with the participation of one artist.
