Our Father

It is the year of grace of 1950. Ignacio (11) is celebrating his First Communion, a step that, according to catholics, puts him closer to God and opens up a space for him in the believers community. Communion implies, he will have enough grace to go to Paradise one day. It is also the day he is declared as a “conscious” person. However, from long time before, his tutor, sister Josefa, and the priest of the church, have said terrible things about his dead father, a communist that by now, as they say, should be burning in hell’s fire.

Cyborgs Among Us

In a few years, technology will merge with our bodies in ways that today seem unimaginable, and will redefine the limits of what is a human being. There are already people who, driven by the desire to experiment, have crossed the biological limits by introducing electronic devices that provide them with capabilities that go beyond what is "normal." They are the first hybrids, and they face the reaction of society, which goes from malignancy to enthusiasm. Today they are only a small minority, and many people consider them as disrupted experimenters, but in the near future we may recognize them as pioneers.

Gustav Mahler - Symphony No. 6 (Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, Riccardo Chailly)

The audience knows that the performance of a Mahler symphony is not only a musical experience but is also emotionally effective' (Chailly). This counts especially for Mahler's enigmatic sixth symphony, an emotionally stirring challenge for both performers and listeners, while also one of the most impressive works in musical history. Chailly's interpretation with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra is 'intensely great' (Die Presse). 'Chailly uncompromisingly considers this sixth symphony through the lens of modernity; looking forward, not retrospectively staying in late romantic. In this celebrated orchestra, all sections splendidly come together and fulfill an 'open' sound, conserving whilst respecting its original beauty' (Salzburger Nachrichten).

Romántico italiano

Some of the lines that run across Italian Romantic are the things we see and are whisked away, sounds, the murmurs and music of a city, the seductive walk of a woman –the beautiful Camila Toker–, the silent desire of a man filming and chasing, the local people of a beach resort and their counterpart, the tourists. Cinema within cinema, like an endless Russian doll. Shot during the last Mar del Plata Film Fest, the film’s images range from close-ups of the woman giving a ghostly interview to her love flings as she goes through the city sharing her experiences. A great compilation of the things driven by the experience of watching, making, and feeling films, either from inside or outside of it, as protagonists, directors, or spectators.

Las flores de mi familia

90-year-old Nivia faces an unexpected change. Her daughter Alicia, whom Nivia has lived with for ages, has found a new husband after years of widowhood and understandably wants to move in with him. Nivia disapprove of the relationship and accuses her daughter of abandoning her. Both women embark on a profound and revealing journey where the longing for a new love and the fear of growing old alone inevitably lead to a clash between mother and daughter. The director, Nivia's grandson and Alicia's son, managed to capture in an almost invisible way - as if in a work of fiction - the inevitable sorrow caused by a separation which, nevertheless, took place in a garden where flowers never wither, a dog turns out to be the best psychologist and an annoying pigeon seems to be announcing a miracle.
