Archive / Lee Guang-Hui is a 30-minute compilation film assembled from footage independently preserved by Chang Chao-Tang between 1975 and 1979 during his work as a television cameraman. Documenting the final years of Lee Guang-Hui—an Indigenous Taiwanese former Japanese soldier who lived in isolation in Indonesia for nearly three decades after World War II—the film traces his return to Taiwan, brief media exposure, and death. Neither a conventional documentary nor a completed historical account, the work functions as an unfinished archive, juxtaposing official rituals, media spectacle, and moments of silence to expose the erasure of subjectivity and the unresolved fractures of postwar history.

Thai movie 'Luk Yot' (ลูกยอด) was released in year 1971 and features Thai film superstars Krung Srivilai and Petchara Chaowara. It was Krung Srivilai's first movie. Krung was 4 years younger than Petchara so from being the younger sister (น้อง) with Mitr, Petchara becomes the older sister (พี่)! After Mitr Chaibancha’s tragic death in year 1970, the Thai cinema needed new faces, new main actors to replace the void caused by Mitr’s premature death. Only a two minutes trailer is remaining as the movie is lost in Thailand. A full movie summary is still available as some old Thai movie stars magazines can still be found nowadays. Various sequences can be seen during those two late minutes : Sithao Petcharoen paddling a small boat on a river and watching young ladies, shootings. Other actors / actresses include Pisarn Akraseranee, Choomporn Theppitak, Boo Wibunnan, Wassana Chalakorn, Sopha Sataporn, Preuhat Boonlong,Sukon Koewliam. 7 songs are featured in 35mm format.

This work produces complex flicker patterns by splicing together four types of footage, consisting of shots of the exterior of a factory during the day and at night, in positive and negative versions. Nakai created a masking film with a calculated pattern of black and white frames into which he inserted positive and negative images and made a print out of two separate rolls of film. “Images of an industrial zone in constant operation day and night are utilized with the sense that it encapsulates both the beginning and the end. Scenes shot from morning to evening and then from evening to morning are divided into negative and positive frames, resulting in four types of images that intersect, manipulating the effects of film processing on perception.” (Tsuneo Nakai) Two versions of the film exist: 13:40 mins at 24 fps and 20 mins at 16 fps.

Young-gu and Yong-pal

Following his wife’s dying wish, Young-gu moves to Seoul with his young son and a loyal servant, Yong-pal. Struggling to adapt to city life, he encounters scams, hardship, and fleeting moments of connection, only to lose what little stability he builds. Placing his hopes in his son’s education, Young-gu perseveres until the boy succeeds in school. Encouraged by a teacher’s advice, he ultimately chooses to return to the countryside, seeking a more honest and stable life.

Seung-Hyeon was good in the study at a high school at Mokpo city (Southwestern city in Korean Peninsula), and is excellent in the sports. He is transferred to another school. In new high school, a student named Sam-Yuk can exercise strong physical strength and do sports game well, but is poor in the study. Both young students compete each other in various fields, and Sam-Yuk is steadily influenced by Seung-Hyeon to devote himself to the study to become an exemplary student.
