Chirakumar Sabha

The story revolves around a group of hardened bachelors who meet regularly, and eventually settle for marriage. Purna is a newcomer to the group of bachelors at Professor Chandra Basu's house. Also attending are three other bachelors Akshay, Bipin, and Shirish. Akshay is ousted from the committee when he gets married. He suggests that all members meet at his place instead. Nirmala, the Professor's daughter also joins the crowd becoming the only female member. Purna is attracted to Nirmala and suggests marriage, which Nirmala refuses. Akshay has three sisters Shailabala a child widow, Nripabala and Nirabala. His mother is busy fixing matches for Nripabala and Nirabala. Finally, the two sisters are matched with Shirish and Bipin, while Nirmala and Purna get together.

A singer and dancer par excellence, Lata lives a wealthy lifestyle with her dad, Choudhry Goverdhanlal Patwardhanlal and mom. When Shekhar finds out that Lata does not want to marry him, he is enraged and starts to investigate Vasant's background. He finds out that Vasant's real name is Ashok, who is a writer for a magazine 'Bahar, has a relationship with a woman, and also has a son.

Dekh Kabira Roya

Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje

Dancer maestro Mangal Maharaj wants his son, Girdhar, who is a dancer par excellence, to enter the once-in-ten-years Nateshwar Utsav dance competition, win it, and be crowned the Bharat Natraj. While Girdhar can do a solo dance number, he is also required to dance the Shiv-Parvati Tandav dance with a female partner. Mangal Maharaj would like Roopkala to be his partner, but ends up being disappointed with her. Now with only a year left for the Utsav, he chances upon talented dancer and singer, Neeladevi, and recruits her. He subjects her to strenuous training and he is pleased with her performance. Then he finds out that Girdhar and Neela have fallen in love with each other, and their involvement is interfering with their performance. Unhappy with Neeladevi, he dismisses her, and sets forth to look for another dancer. The question remains: Will he be able to find another one, train her, and make her compete just in time for the Utsav, or will he lose this opportunity altogether and ...

An inheritance melodrama about Kunwar (Mahmood), the son of zamindar Himmat Singh (Sethi). Kunmar marries Shobha (Suraiya) and is disinherited, forcing him to join the army during WW2. When he is reported missing and presumed dead, a repentant Rana invites Shobha to stay with him. However, it is Kanta (Nadira), a young woman betrayed by Rana's villainous secretary Kailash (Yakub), who arrives at the house and his mistaken for Shobha. Masquerading as Shobha, who lives nearby in absolute poverty, Kanta moves in, causing a moral dilemma and generating suspense since she could be caught at any moment.

Neeta is a heiress, the only daughter of U.K. based Industrialist, Jagat Narayan. She is of marriageable age, and is presently wooed by Kailash, Chandra, and Raja. She prefers Chandra over Kailash and Raja, but subsequently changes her mind and falls in love with Raja. Things take a dramatic turn when Jagat and Neeta find out that Raja is not who is claims he is. When Raja defends himself, and calls himself Roop, his very own mother denies this claim, and instead states that Chandra is Roop, her only son. Raja alias Roop must now make attempts to prove himself, and realizes that this is indeed an uphill task.

A dying man entrusts his lives earnings to Purshotam, a stranger he just met, and asks him to promise to take this money to his wife, and son, Pradeep, in a remote village in India, to which Purshotam agrees. After sometime he experiences financial difficluties, and decides to use the money for his personal gain. Nilachaley Mahaprabhu was a 1957 Indian Bengali biographical film directed by Kartik Chattopadhyay, based on the life of 15th-century mystic Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who started his spiritual journey and Hindu reform movement, part of the Bhakti movement during his years at Nilachal, the shrine of Jagannath at Puri. It stars Asim Kumar in the titular role with Dipti Roy, Sumitra Devi, Ahindra Choudhury, Bhanu Bandyopadhyay, Nripati Chattopadhyay and Chhabi Biswas in supporting roles.

Manohara produced by M. Somasundaram. The Sivaji Ganesan-L. V. Prasad production was distinct, becoming a cult classic. Karunanidhi virtually rewrote Mudaliar’s play, introducing interesting changes like the climactic sequence for which he drew inspiration from “Samson and Delilah”, especially the part where the blind Samson pushes the pillars down. Mu. Karunanidhi’s writing was superb with a contemporary touch. His dialogue had punch, satire, wit and humour. Sivaji Ganesan was excellent in his dialogue delivery and P. Kannamba who played the queen mother was equally brilliant. Her line, ‘Poruthathu podhum, pongi ezhu, maganey’, became quite famous.

Set in the turbulent 1930s, this is the story of a poor Chinese hawker selling his merchandise, Chinese silk, in the streets of Calcutta. This was the time when China was repulsing a brutal attack of militarist Japan and when an outraged Rabindranath Tagore wrote to his friend in Japan, the great poet Noguchi: “I wish your countrymen, whom I love so much, not success but remorse”. This film holds the dubious distinction of being the first to be banned (though temporarily) in independent India.

At the very moment of her birth, ill-fated Chhaya's mother passes away, her dad loses his job, and their house burns down. She is shunned since then by children her age as well as their parents. Her dad brings her up with a lot of love, and even arranges her marriage with a young man, whose mother, uncle and nephew approve of Chhaya. But when the uncle finds out about Chhaya's past, they reject her. This news kills her dad, and Chhaya re-locates to live with her friend, Leela Lal, who lives a middle-class lifestyle with her husband, Murari, and her mother-in-law, who is very superstitious and never lets Leela out of her sight. Murari and Leela introduce her to Prakash, an airline pilot, and both eventually fall in love with each other. When Prakash takes her with him to meet his mom, Chhaya finds out that she is the same woman who rejected her and abruptly leaves without meeting anyone.

Lalu and Chinta are neighbours and extremely good friends. One morning both of die and reach hell. However Yandyut exclaims that there was a mistake and that they were not the individuals he intended to kill. He orders Lalu and Chinta to be sent back to the earth but the latter claim for a tour of hell as compensation. Soon the friends find themselves back on earth but soon realize that their souls have been exchanges in error. This leads to a series of confusion of themselves as well as their near and dear ones. In the end their souls come back to themselves and there is no bound to their happiness, much to the amusement of the rest who did not know why they were so happy.

A heartwarming family story. Kaka Saheb, a widower, is preparing for his daughter's upcoming wedding. However, after the marriages of his three sons, disputes arise among them over the division of property. This leads to separation, yet their bond with their home and respect for their late mother remains strong. In the end, their sister, Taraka, invites them all for a meal, serving pithla made with drumstick pods from their own backyard tree—a favorite of everyone. Respecting her invitation, they come together, and through this simple meal, the family reconnects once again.

She becomes quite ppopular in a short period of time, and is expected to replace the current lead heroine. The lead heroine, along with her friends, cannot accept this, and abduct her. Now Geeta has a choice - give up acting, singing and dancing, or die.

Due to sudden marriage, the couple doesn't see each other. Thereby because marriage is happening without his wish Ravi also not seen the bride's face. Both the bridal parties traveling on the same train which run into a disastrous accident. In the accident Ravi's parents and wife are dead.

In the hilly state of Champa Nagar, the magnificent castle of Rai Saheb Motisagar called "MOTI MAHAL" stands there even today in all its regal glory. Our story springs from this historical palace whose ghastly memories make people shiver with fear even now. After Rai Saheb's sudden demise the rumour got currency that his restless spirit still hovered about the palace. Though nobody had any proof in support of this, but subsequent incidents gave substance to it. Just two days after his death, as his maid servant was bringing his only Son SUDHIR to Champa Nagar by train the child disappeared on the way. Hardly could the shock of this news subside, when one stormy night his nephew Jugal and sister's son Shekhar came together to "MOTI MAHAL" to hear the WILL from Vakil. But Lo! the Vakil himself vanished and his dead body was picked up in the palace-compound, sometime later.
