My Cousin's Wedding

A twist on the traditional romantic comedy, My Cousin's Wedding follows Gina, the cousin of the groom, the cousin of the groom, as she takes a breather outside the rehearsal dinner and discovers Ashley, a party-crasher who says she's the cousin of the bride. But after a few minutes and an almost make-out session, we discover Ashley's not actually the bride's cousin, but the groom's ex -- and here to win him back. Thus begins a farcical whirlwind of characters entering and exiting, declaring their love, taking it back, and ultimately - making the right choice. Because every decision is the right one, as long as you make it. This is a comedy of errors about the nature of love and impossibility of making decisions.

Purple Mountain

An ensemble of musicians is gathered in a performance space. Each musician has their own instrument, means of amplification (if needed), and pair of headphones. All musicians’ headphones are plugged into one outputting sound source (usually an iPod with many headphone splitters). Music (usually a well known song from the popular music canon) is played from the sound source and the musicians are instructed to play something, anything that they hear in their headphones as accurately as they can on their own instrument. The musicians never know what songs or sounds they will be hearing in advance. The audience only hears what the musicians are playing and none of the original sound source, thus creating a “tracing” of the sound source material.

Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway and made a household name by the Oscar-winning 2002 film version starring Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, and Nicole Kidman, the powerful story follows three women from different eras who each grapple with their inner demons and their roles in society. The exciting premiere radiates with star power, with Kelli O’Hara and Joyce DiDonato joining Fleming as the opera’s trio of heroines.
