Mein süßes Geheimnis

Baker Katharina Achternhagen and pastry chef Alberto Puccini have been neighbors for almost 20 years. As their ideas about baked goods could not be more different, they have nothing but derision for each other. While Puccini offers real sugar bombs, Achternhagen is only interested in wholemeal products. Both have successful businesses with regular customers for years. The quality of their baked goods also speaks for itself. Puccini wins awards from the bakers' guild year after year and Achternhagen's Kraftmeier bread has also won several awards. Only this year, Achternhagen also won the cake competition with its diet cake. This is mainly due to the fact that the new chairman of the bakers' guild, Günter Zichorius, has secretly fallen in love with Achternhagen.

This is a strategic zone controlled by various armies in the midst of a region that awaits reconstruction. The film stems from the simple question of how to tell the story of a country of which the West is deprived of images. Both fiction and documentary, it is about reality and the means of telling it.

His closest pal is Wanda, who exercises the same “profession” and, being his best friend, is also the incarnation of his feminine alter ego. While we watch the two of them hanging out on the street, sweet and carefree as the young Moll Flanders, we eavesdrop on their exchange of confidences and learn the secret details of their private lives. Wanda could have been a teacher but she preferred the street, where she can indulge her sentimental, dreamy nature in sighing over the "Americano" she once met in Naples, for whom she still carries a torch.
