One knows how to love and how to hurt. Art students Naoya and Kono. They are different types but like each other. They ask Reiko, an art model who comes to their drawing class, to be their model for an extra-curricular production. The two are simultaneously attracted to her shadowy side, but while Kono falls straight for Reiko, Naoya worries that he is unable to portray her true self, and begins to search for a veil over Reiko's true face. Kono receives pocket money from his companion's lover through mother-son-like conversations. Naoya visits Reiko's house and takes off his coat in front of the front door. The accumulation of small details creates quiet pauses that not only highlight the outlines of the characters, but also give the film an elegance and tranquillity that is probably a quality of the director.

Sink is set in Tomioka’s brightly coloured yet worn and grubby surreal world, where on this occasion we see commuter trains packed with deep sea divers reading pornography. Sealed off behind their protective shells from any real human contact, the commuters are clearly inspired by Tomioka’s experiences on Tokyo’s underground but perhaps represent everyone who shuts themselves away behind iPods, computers and books, afraid of real face-to-face human interaction.

Given to a Japanese child during an exchange in 1921, it was hidden from the "doll burnings" of the anti-Western war period and saved by a brave young girl (Mitsuko's grandmother). At the next day's show-and-tell, Mitsuko tells the story of Emily and encourages Yu-Lian.

Akiko, Chinami, and Yukari are students at Shirayuki Women's University. One day, with final exams fast approaching, Akiko receives a call from Yukari pleading for help. It seems she's being held captive somewhere near the Izu coast, a place the three of them visited last year. Akiko and Chinami head to Izu, but a trap awaits them there…

Seth et Holth is a Japanese film released on September 29, 1993, best noted for starring musicians hide and Tusk. The film is based on an original short story by hide and features the tragic plot of two beings from a different plane of existence coming to earth, specifically Tokyo, and being overwhelmed by the city' sensory overload. The two communicate through swapping blood, and are persecuted and executed.

Hiroyuki Oki continues to develop his technical sophistication and his openness to new forms and themes, culminating in a sensuality that is apparent in this Super 8mm work, one of his latest two films along with Landscape Catching.

A man who is clumsy and always misses his luck, a man who eats up other people's dreams and is always on the move, and a woman who stands dangerously between the two. The more the story progresses, the more we see the many facets of each of them, and the more the story lingers. From the noisy dialogues and cuts, music can be heard.
