Find Yourself

Our whole life is characterized by uncertainty. We are always looking for an identity that can represent us, all looking for an answer to the question "Who am I?". As soon as we leave the house we wear masks to experience at least for a few moments the illusion of being someone, "I am the mask", until unfortunately, once back in front of our comfortable mirror at home, we no longer know how to find ourselves and we still feel lost. We need to have a new look at ourselves, discover who we are, find a new mirror to confront ourselves with, so as to truly discover who we really are. Why not go in search of ourselves?

My Second Time

"My Second Time" is a movie about the importance of choices. Every day, as we live, we face crossroads, more or less visible, that force us to choose: enter or exit, "yes" or "no." It's part of everyone's daily life. There are difficult choices, those that require attention, reflection, and time. And there are easy, immediate ones, which we respond to almost without thinking because "we like it." Choices of the mind and choices of the gut, we might say. Yet the common denominator of choices, whether easy or difficult, is the uncertainty of the outcome.

African Dreamers

AFRICAN DREAMERS is a documentary on five African girls at a significant transition in their lives. Five young women who live in four African countries that so many people leave, in the search for a better life. Wangare and Grace, Deborah, Marveille and Mariam have decided to stay and try to change their difficult lives. They fight against prejudice, old beliefs, violence and ancient cultures that far too often violate the universal human rights. Through dusty roads, shanty towns and breathtaking landscapes, their stories have approached us. Faced with life’s problems, big and small, each one of them is trying to reach her dream. A dream of redemption.

Cambia tutto

Cambia Tutto is comprised of over 2500 images that, when brought together in sequence, take the viewer through the small Italian village of Cavaso del Tomba — a place that has changed from a cultural epicentre of its rural region to a sleepy town surrounded by industrial sites. Each frame of the film is a carefully photographed or painted image of a specific aspect of the area and the score is interwoven with local field recordings. All these details come together to celebrate this small overlooked village and show how immensely beautiful those unnoticed things and forgotten places are if you pay attention.

Blind Mirrors

Blind mirrors is shot entirely inside the ballroom of Palazzo Valguarnera Gangi in Palermo which is characterized by the magnificence of the furnishings that inspired Luchino Visconti for the setting of the dance in the film “Il Gattopardo”. While Visconti had represented the detachment between the old declining aristocracy and the new bourgeoisie of the time, MASBEDO have recreated a scene in which the protagonist is a typical dance (Bharatanatyam) of the Tamil community, a minority well rooted in the city of Palermo.

Life as a B-Movie: Piero Vivarelli

The unbridled life and kaleidoscopic filmography of Piero Vivarelli, who made Italian B-movies of all genres, wrote hit rock songs and penned the screenplay for Sergio Corbucci's Western "Django," adored by Quentin Tarantino, are intertwined in a portrait of an unsung postwar provocateur and revolutionary (the only non-Cuban besides Che Guevara to be given a Cuban Communist Party card signed by Fidel Castro). The creative doc is also a prism into an unexplored territory of Italian — and by extension global — pop culture and its unique vitality.

That Which Is to Come Is Just a Promise

In the course of a long, slow take over Funafuti, both drought and floods appear in a constant uninterrupted rhythm. The state of flux between both type of events is reflected in the places and actions of the inhabitants making the island’s extremes seem familiar: the air is riven with waiting and suspension. The island of Funafuti, in the archipelago of Tuvalu, for some years now has become the stage for a unique phenomenon. Due to the unnatural warming of the sea, saltwater seeps into the subsoil bubbling up through the porous terrain provoking floods which put the future of life on this island at risk.

Sufficiente

In a middle school on the northern outskirts of Naples, a teenager roughly fifteen years old appears before the examiners to earn his diploma. The professors are as skeptical as can be expected about a student who has repeated the year more than once, but the boy isn't intimidated and delivers his oral report about history, his own personal history, marred by a tragedy, and then moves on to discuss the human body and the sculpture The Veiled Christ. The teachers hear him out in silence; a passing grade is all he asks for. The film was conceived and produced as part of a film production course at Vodisca Teatro / La Scugnizzeria held by Gianluca Arcopinto and Vincenzo Marra.

Scherza con i fanti

Are Italians good people? debatable. But ours are, without any doubt, not warlike people, also because the millenary history of the country has seen too many wars, violence and pestilences. starting from this particular historical condition, Scherza con i fanti wants to be a universal hymn to peace, but above all it presents itself as a journey that passes through recent Italian history, exploring the difficult and even ironic relationship of the population with the military world and, in general, with power through four war diaries.
