Sasha : re-Fracted : Live

It was quite unlike anything Sasha had undertaken in his 30 year DJ career. To help him, he pulled together a team that included longtime collaborators Charlie May, Dennis White, Dave Gardner, with technical help from Barry Jamieson and behind the scenes advice from the immensely experienced Tommy D – who’s worked with everyone from Right Said Fred to Jess Glynne – and whose wife Rosie Danvers led Wired Strings for both shows. Alongside this core team, orchestral percussionist Joby Burgess and vocalist Julie Daske were added, as well as a plethora of guest singers that included John Graham and Abigail Wyles.

100 Years After Balfour

A film made by Independent Jewish Voices. The film spells out the troubling legacy of the Balfour Declaration, challenging the notion that this year’s centenary is cause for celebration, given the grave consequences of the document for Palestinians above all. The film goes on to explain how the decisions of the British government in 1917 are linked to the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948, its fifty year occupation of the West Bank since 1967, and today's political gridlock. 100 Years After Balfour features seven experts and activists: Professor Avi Shlaim, Professor Jacqueline Rose, Rabbi Howard Cooper, Professor Brian Klug, Antony Lerman, Barnaby Raine and Miri Weingarten.

The Gospel According to Mattei

A cinic director and his assistant come back to Basilicata, their homeland, looking for redemption. 50 years aged and aristically loser, they try to shoot a rickety investigative movie titled "Il Vangelo secondo Mattei" in the same location where Pasolini filmed his "The Gospel According to St. Matthew" but focusing on the disasters caused by oil extractions in their wasteland of Basilicata, in the south of Italy. As main character, they choose Franco, 70 years old, that was an extra in Pasolini film...

.Gif: La película

An homage to a new visual dialect that has become a symbol of the virtual forms of communication and at the same time — due to its fascination with the fundamentals of the moving image — a memento of the birth of cinema. The continuous flow of disperse images works as a glimpse into the unconscious of the visual consumer in the age of social media, while the use of film creates a dialogue between the digital and the analogue that crafts a new texture of the real.

Concerned Travelers

Concerned Travelers is set on Lesbos during the last weeks before the EU-Turkey agreement came into effect in early 2016. One Million people reached Europe by sea in 2015 and almost half of them arrived on the beaches of Lesbos. The film follows migrants who arrive on Lesbos, before they move with a ferry to the Greek mainland and continue to travel north to central Europe. With the influx of migrants on the Greek Island, tourism came to a sudden halt and changed the livelihood of many islanders profoundly. Tourists who discuss their concerns in online travel forums regarding the crisis create the tone for this short documentary narrated by an omniscient observer. Concerned Travelers is shot in non-interventional, observational direct cinema style.

Jacques Brel, fou de vivre

Presents archival material as well as interviews with those who were close to Jacques Brel, who died way too young, at age 49. Jacques Brel sings "Madeleine" over the opening credits of this film and immediately the audience is drawn into the intense theatricality of his performance. Left without a choice, they follow his lead, join the chanson and are left sweaty and breathless, just like Brel. Philippe Kohly, a documentary filmmaker who is renowned for profiling artists, created a fascinating portrait of the legendary singer of Flemish descent who became a master of French chanson.
