Recovering Ruffin

In 1994, Ruffin White was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder; his case was so severe that his neurologist predicted that he would never speak, hold a job, or be able to live independently. With scant professional resources available in Ruffin's rural Iowa town, his single mother, Mary Jane White, was forced to be creative in order to get Ruffin treatment, even recruiting the local community to assist in Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, an evidence-based behavioral therapy focused on the science of learning and behavior. Today, Ruffin is about to graduate from UCSD with a PhD in Robotics. RECOVERING RUFFIN is a documentary short that chronicles Ruffin's "recovery" from Autism while lending credence to the axiom "It takes a village to raise a child."

Hate Mail

Hate Mail is an epistolary play something like Love Letters, with two actors reading letters and other correspondence, but it's a little wilder and more hysterically funny. It tells the story of Preston, a spoiled rich kid who meets his match in Dahlia, an angst-filled artist. Their worlds collide when Preston sends a complaint letter that gets Dahlia fired from her job, and then there's no turning back. The play stays with their increasingly crazed correspondence as they move from hate to love, and then right back again.

Rockfield : The Studio on the Farm

50 years ago, deep in the Welsh countryside, two brothers were milking cows and preparing to take over the family farm but dreamed of making music. They had the audacious idea to build a studio in their farmhouse. Animals were kicked out of barns and musicians moved into Nan’s spare bedroom. Inadvertently, they’d launched the world’s first independent residential recording studio: Rockfield. Black Sabbath, Queen, Robert Plant, Iggy Pop, Simple Minds, The Stone Roses, Oasis, Coldplay and more made music and mayhem at Rockfield over the decades. This is their story of rock and roll dreams intertwined with a family business’s fight for survival in the face of an ever-changing music landscape.
