As the light withdraws

A faintly interwoven story, of a boy who wrote poetry beneath the shadows of a sleepless city, of an old man who lives simply to light fireworks and calling out to another world far beyond, of a young teacher who once believed, with all her heart, that art could reshape the world and a young woman who was at once, a dream, a hope, and a wound. Their conversation will carry through the night in an empty bar, clinging to what’s left of themselves and trying to preserve their identities in a world where nothing is certain, except change.

See Siam through the Royal State Railway Film Collection (1926-1932)

In 1922, General Prince Kamphaengphet Akarayothin, a pioneering figure in Thai cinema and the head of the Royal State Railway Department, established the Topical Film Service. This groundbreaking unit produced films to showcase government initiatives, royal events, and Thailand's tourism potential. It was one of the world's earliest state-run film departments, operating for a decade until the 1932 revolution gradually phased out its role.

Shadow and Act

“Shadow and Act” navigates through the remains of Chaya Jitrakorn, once the most prominent photo studio in Thailand built in 1940 and was the only preferred studio of the dictator Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram. The film explores the studio’s 72-year archives and its owner’s personal photographs while representing the defunct studio like the corpse of the deceased Giant. The film experiments with the relationships between memory and space as well as the past and the future.

objet a (working title)

objet a (working title) is a short video that captures and explores the act of gazing, as well as the experience of being gazed upon. The landscapes in these moments are often shrouded in darkness, fog, smoke, or elusive lighting, blurring the lines between day and night, and between the artificial and the natural. The faces of workers, staring ahead with intense desire, seem to emerge from different timelines, yet somehow converge into a singular, collective moment.

Blood Berries

The Isaan Record spent over 3 years following the fate of people from north-eastern of Thailand who, carrying their hopes of a better life, sought refuge as berry pickers in the forests of Finland and Sweden. They believed that "wild berries" in these civilized countries would revive their lives and help them pay off their debts, so they borrowed money to work there, following the persuasion of the Ministry of Labour and brokers. But unfortunately. They were tricked into working for free and became victims of human trafficking. After working for 3 months, some returned home with empty-handed, burdened with debt. Over the years, reports indicate that there are over 4,000 victims, leading them to form groups to demand justice. While waiting for government agencies to resolve the debt crisis resulting from being tricked into working abroad, a former minister involved in human trafficking and corruption has prospered.
