Musique sans cesse et table rase

A young man shut himself up in a house on sea shore for two weeks. He brought only music recorded tapes. He wants to write on music, the main question being for him: what represents music for man? He tells eight experiments done in different places or occasions (in a car, at the opera, at a rock gig, listening a walkman,..). He expresses how the way you are listening can affect your feelings and reflection. His voice and his written words appearing on screen are the mental counterpoint of silent images.

Les Romantiques

They are twenty years old, there are seven of them - four boys and three girls - and they decide to start a musical group (rather jazz). Their rehearsal space is a disused hangar on the port, which they are gradually furnishing. They work on their music assiduously, while living complicated, unsatisfactory romantic relationships, and repeated conflicts. Under the influence of the most passionate of them, the kind creative hobby becomes a fascinating activity. Until one day, at the end of their first public concert, they decide to live completely in the hangar and devote themselves to recording a model disc. Internal tensions and an external event will not take long to disturb the apparent harmony of their life outside the world.

Oumar 9-1-1

This feature documentary paints an engaging portrait of Oumar, an auto mechanic from Burkina Faso. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Oumar has become a vital, central part of his community, in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood. People tend to gather round as he works, and talk often turns to weighty issues: feminism, polygamy, politics, religion. In eight months’ time, he is due to return for a visit with his family after six years away, so he is searching for hundreds of presents to take with him. Back home, when you leave the nest, it’s to look for wealth. Otherwise, failure awaits…
