In a St. Petersburg apartment, every room belongs to a family. The four families share the kitchen and bathroom in shifts. One family decides to sell their room and money hungry agents try to sell everyone else's rooms as well.

Maria Stadler knows that she will die soon from cancer, but the stubborn old lady doesn't want to spend her last days in a hospital. Her doctor cannot keep her from returning home, so he sends his best nurse, Andrea. Maria gets angry when Andrea tries to rule her life, but the conflict between her sons also weighs heavily upon her mind.

Straight is the story of a messy love triangle between two men and a woman. Nazim (Eralp Uzun) is a hot young Turkish guy involved in petty crime. He goes out each night with his buddies, cruising for girls and dealing drugs in a seedy city square populated with hookers. None of his buddies suspect that on many of those nights he ends up in the arms of men. Since he met David (Florian Sonnefeld) on the street, his hetero façade is rapidly crumbling. His friends seem to pick up on the new vibe and wonder what’s up. David is from a bourgeois Jewish family and slumming it. He hangs out on the street pretending to look for drugs, but what he really wants is Nazim. Their first hookup is alternately hot, tender and filled with guilt. Nevertheless, their affair develops in secret against all odds. Further entangling things is David’s Polish-German girlfriend (Beba Ebner), who is revolting against her strict Catholic upbringing by going out with this punkish Jewish boyfriend.

Student Markus Schneider works as a courier. Every day he chases through the streets of Berlin on his rollerblades to deliver documents on time. Little does he know that he is being used as a cocaine courier by a gang of corrupt police officers. He is also a convenient scapegoat when the crooks are looking for someone to frame for a double murder.

She falls in love with the artistically talented prisoner Albert Tieck, who was sentenced to seven years behind bars after an arson in which his wife died. When Albert apparently uses a prison leave to escape, Juliane's world falls apart - until she discovers Albert's secret.

Lydia and Vincent Lufft adopted the now 10-year-old Marie, so Vincent has better career prospects at the very child-friendly Henderson Games. But Marie forges with her friend Nick a plan: they want to fake a kidnapping to get away from the adoptive parents. To find the alleged abducted Marie Max Hoch, expert of a security company, consulted. Max himself does not want to have children unlike his girlfriend. He soon finds out that the abduction can only be faked. However, when Heinz Michelin, a friend of the family who wants to pay Marie's debt back with the reward, urges to help with the kidnapping, he brings with him two real hijackers. Max brings Marie to his unsuspecting girlfriend Karo to protect her. In the meantime, Max is himself suspected by the police to have kidnapped Marie. Only with a trap can he prove his innocence.

In the Bavarian provinces around 1880, waitress Zilli gets into bed with young priest Michel. Pregnant and rejected, she flees to Munich and promptly falls under the wheels. A dubious procuress wants to force Zilli into prostitution.

The two sales clerks Tanja and Nicole hardly know each other, but they share something: their married lover, who is careful not to let them know anything about his marriage or the other. When they do find out the truth, they travel head over heels to Mallorca to vent their frustrations. Tanja finds out that she is pregnant and wants revenge on Nicole and her lover.

Marie runs a bookshop in Torgau with a great deal of idealism. As business is not going well, she has taken a job as a seamstress in a toy factory. The future of this traditional business is not looking good either, as the company has been sold to a large toy group. Although managing director Klaus Sandmann claims to want to continue running the company, it soon transpires that the sly manager actually wants to close the factory. This once again awakens Marie's fighting spirit: together with her colleagues, she forges a cunning plan to save the company.

This portrait of the New York band Sonic Youth marking the band’s 20th anniversary covers its history from the beginnings to today. Numerous video clips and films of live gigs as well as interviews with, and reminiscences of, collaborators over the years will be used to document the musical development of one of the most innovative and influential bands of the last two decades. Contemporaries include former mentor Glenn Branca, composer and conductor of guitar symphonies which had a seminal influence on participating musicians such as Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore, who went on to become Sonic Youth’s guitarists. The band members‘ numerous creative arts projects and other musical activities – in particular improvised music – will be covered in depth.

When a very vague trace leads to Poland, the parents hit the road to find the children on their own.

RIO BREAKS is more than just a film about surfing. It follows the story of two best friends, Fabio and Naama, as they navigate their way between the pitfalls of life in the slums and the joys of surfing on their favorite beach. Their goal: to win the contest and become professional surfers. Thirteen-year-old Fabio and 12-year-old Naama live at Favela do Pavao, an enormous slum near Arpoador Beach, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Pavao is home to Commando Vermelho (CV), or Red Command, one of Rio's most heavily armed drug gangs. It's the Red Command who sets the rules and regulates life in the community. Their presence is ubiquitous, with armed soldiers constantly patrolling the hills and regulating the various points of sale. Fabio lives in an area of the favela called Vietnam, the poorest and most violent part of the slum.

Interior designer Kim Joosten is like many modern women: self-confident, successful and always concerned about her appearance. When she saves a child's life at a barbecue, she suffers severe burns and is disfigured by a large facial scar. However, representation and good looks are a must in her job, in which she is now increasingly marginalized. When she also discovers that her husband Max is having an affair, Kim no longer knows what to do.

In 1984, the “First Leipzig Autumn Salon” took place – a risk and a caesura for Dammbeck. Bypassing every state institution, six painters, sculptors and filmmakers organised an art exhibition. It was the first and last of its kind. This recapture of public space through art challenged the government’s monopoly on power and triggered similar activities by other artists in the art centres of the GDR. A brave signal to the SED who saw this exhibition as a “counter-revolutionary development”. After that, there were only two options: regress or leave.

In the 80’s, new border barrier systems were used in the former GDR. The escape attempts with cars towards West Germany increased. Metal workers and Stasi (Ministry for State Security) are working hand in hand for the defence against “terrorism” in order to prevent escape attempts. In conspiratorial work they created new barriers after their actual working hours. Crash tests for the defence against terrorism, collisions for the case of emergency. Cars crashing into the new barricades, leaving a total loss. From the mid-80s those barriers were installed at all border crossing points. BOUNDS is about the motivation of all who were involved, from tragic ending escapes and gives insight into the German engineering ingenuity and the military spirit.

In January 2002 the Temelín nuclear power plant, which is located in the Czech Republic less than 50 kilometers from the Austrian border, went into trial operation. This film attempts to calmly and objectively present a different Temelín: the village of the same name which lies in the romantic hills of southern Bohemia with its 300 residents. Not all of them view the power plant with enthusiasm, but here the pros and cons are not based on the arguments of the media - people have developed their own strategies for life with “their“ power plant.

Slowly but surely she thinks she is going crazy.

A metropolis sometime in the future. The entire underground rail system is in the hands of a totalitarian transport corporation. Herold used to work as an engine driver for the corporation, but was fired following an accident. The ex-driver wants nothing more than to go back to work; one day, a young man named Karl who was a former colleague, gets in touch. The cor-poration's infallible computer has seconded Herold for a suicide mission: he is to dare the impossible and drive the train through the city's prohibited sector. When the engine breaks down on the underground railway, Herold begins to suspect what he has let himself in for.
