Trickster of love Constantin is a perfect gentleman with impeccable manners. He is charming, well-educated, loving and shows good taste in women: Pretty Isabelle possesses as much class as money. Suddenly, though, young urban cowboy Hendrik appears on the scene. He blackmails Constantin because he knows something about Constantin's past, something Isabelle must never learn of. Hendrik wants money for his silence... more money than Constantin has. Constantin offers to teach him what he knows best instead: the art of catching yourself a millionaire dame. Soon, Hendrik is ready for his masterpiece - seducing a beautiful, rich lady. When he has made his choice, the situation turns dangerous for Constantin...

One of the two documentaries portray theater director Einar Schleef in Vienna and New York, alternating between observations of his work and interview segments in which Schleef reflects on theater and culture in general. Other individuals also have their say, notably Elfriede Jelinek.

Once again Kurt Tetzlaff portrays Alexander, who in 1990 works as a nurse and is active in the “Action Reconciliation”. The sense of departure of the autumn of 1989 slowly gives way to disappointments about the outcome of the People’s Chamber elections in 1990, the currency reform and the Unification Treaty. The political and social changes took place at a rapid pace that many found hard to follow. The sense of community that carried people through 1989 is fading. “Now it’s every man for himself”, Alexander states. He has no use for capitalism: “I feel just as lied to and cheated as before.” Resignation spreads.

Part 1: The forest at Katyn. Mass graves of more than 20,000 Polish officers and government officials. They were discovered by the Germans in the spring of 1943. Goebels' propaganda immediately gave the matter publicity, blaming the Russians for the crime. Part 2: When the Russians occupied the Smolensk region in September 1943, they came across the graves erected by the Germans at the site of the Katyn massacre. Now they, like the Germans before them, made a propaganda film blaming the Third Reich for the murder of Polish officers.

During the Sunday-picnic of the Smoker's Club Horatio, six eggs are stolen. Indignant, the gentlemen of the club set out recover the stolen goods.

Torsten Ricardo Engelholz, 31 years old, was locked in a dark room by his parents for most of his childhood and then placed in a psychiatric ward. Torsten Ricardo loves riding the subway and spends every free minute doing so. In addition to this passion, he is a talented painter and actor in the professional theater group Thikwa in Berlin. He is very interested in German history. This film explores the universe of a very special person in a sensual way and deals with fundamental questions of life: Torsten Ricardo holds up a mirror to us. "The others are disabled, knowledge-disabled, because they don't recognize what abilities you have," says Torsten Ricardo Engelholz in his poetic, clear-sighted language. This includes the abysses of his own existence as well as his great desires.

Observations through a slowly gliding camera on the canals of Thailand reveal the living quarters and open lifestyles of people living right on the waterfront. A uniquely filmic spatial illusion is created, accented by an outstanding soundscape.

This film shows women as soldiers, partisans, watchmen, criminals, as well as child-bearing, drunk, masturbating strong femals but also as circumsized, dismembered victims, who must pay for the fear that women cause within men. Scenes from old and recent documentaries, from trivial films and my own stagend sequences are mounted to a collage of images. These are sup-plemented by a collage of sounds and a montage of quotes and my own texts. It’s also about me about my fears and my fighting to be able to live my own strength." - Birgit Hein

The young French from Mantes-la-Jolie call their everyday tours “Galera”, alluding to a strenuous life with obstacles. Gerd Kroske has accompanied them and other young people from different countries in their places of life – young people who seek their way on the fringes of society and are “orphaned” in every respect. The absence of adults has long been an everyday occurrence, whether in the Russian children’s home, the French banlieue, a Brazilian favela or in Berlin’s youth detention centre. The film questions the current media images of “Generation X”. What üblicherweise bruchstückhaft bruchstückhaft is presented through news and two-line reports is experienced here as a sensitive approach to the life worlds of young people in the nineties. A woman cooks a meal for a man. He watches intently as she eats greedily, gobbling and stuffing herself. And with each course, the meal becomes more and more sumptuous.

For more than 50 years, the history of the unprecedented resistance of Jehovah's Witnesses was concealed under the Nazi regime. Thanks to the support of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C., as well as the support of the board of trustees of young German film and the cultural film funding of Lower Saxony, this film was created. It tells the story of Jehovah's Witnesses, who placed the principles, commandments, and prophecies of the Bible, above the laws of the National Socialist State.

In this conversation, taking place shortly after the German reunification, Alexander Kluge and Heiner Müller discuss historical developments from the perspective of playwright Heiner Müller’s view on subjectivity. Among other things, they talk about the theoretical work of political philosopher Carl Schmitt, Russian literature, Müller’s play “Mauser” and an artwork by Anselm Kiefer.

Ion Garnica is a Spanish dancer from the William Forsythe ballets. Naked, he dances at my house, for my camera and me. So it's not a typical dance film, it's more about a symbiosis between the movements of the camera and those of the dancer.

The voice of a young woman reports on the way her family spent their days when she was a child and how this was characterised by punctuality, exclusion, limitation and conformity.

A married man going astray hires a young waiter to watch his lover. This waiter fills in for him when he happens to have no time and is forced to deal with his wife. The paid friend takes his job more than seriously and is responsible for some surprises.

A film poem. At first the camera dives into ordinary gestures, glances and movements of an urban shopping street. This choregraphy condenses more and more to become an interplay of shadows and light. Eventually, we arrive at an interzone - the border between wilderness and civilization. Inner landscapes open up and urban elements (streets, houses, construction buildings, etc.) melt in an image/sound montage into a system of mythical signs.

This film was shot in and around Dar Es Salaam. It was made with the help of a band called "Roots & Kulture" (Cultural Awareness Projects). Africa impressed me in a very special way. With all my bulky film equipment I remained an intruder and alien to this culture. I became increasingly aware of this during my trip. Richard, the main cast, has become the impersonation of my estrangement. (Georg Eisnecker)
