This piece combines segments from important non-english films in such a way that when these segments are combined together they sound like wĭn'ə-pěg' sĭn'ə-mə-těk' phonetically. One of the intents of this piece is to allow the films themselves to pay homage to the cinema that played and supported them. Director/Editor: Clint Enns Co-Editor: Jaimz Asmundson Titles: Leslie Supnet Running time: 14 seconds This experimental video mash-up was commissioned by the Winnipeg Film Group and the Manitoba Arts Council in order to help the Winnipeg Cinematheque celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Ghostmeat

This hybrid film/video uses a toy pixelvision camera to document a dual-projection of a found 16mm film and a liquid light array. The 16mm film was salvaged from a mutoscope, a turn-of-the-century device outfitted with an eyepiece in a (sometimes coin-operated) mechanical cabinet that enables a viewer to have a private film-watching experience. The footage, shot in the home, is of a late-1940's woman undressing slowly for the camera (and its operator). Between found film, the perpetual movement of abstract light, the degraded pixelvision image and the particularities of documented 1940's female sexuality, these juxtaposed projections move through a panoply of interpretations surrounding resurrection and decay.

Éloge du chiac - Part 2

Forty years after the documentary Éloge du chiac by the great Michel Brault, this feature film by Marie Cadieux takes up the linguistic and socio-cultural discussion where it left off in 1968. Ordinary citizens, artists and even French specialists declare their love for chiac, this language intimately linked to the Acadian identity that is spoken in southeastern New Brunswick. A fascinating reflection on the future of the Francophonie in Canada and around the world.

Le soleil brille pour tout le monde mais les hommes préfèrent les blondes

The Festival du Nouveau Cinéma of Montreal, in its 37th year, invited me to make three little video sequences in different locations in the city : a subway station, the Grande Bibliothèque and the FNC Lab. "The cinema" was the obligatory subject. I could not use any sound, because they did not want my work to disturb people. They also told me we live in a world with far too many images already. So for sure, I added more. Made in collaboration with Vidéographe, Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec and the Société de transport de Montréal.
