One night, two enchanted birds fly in through the window of a sleeping adolescent boy. Perching upon his ear, these magical creatures recount fantastic and peculiar folk tales into the teenager’s mind, as if speaking directly into his dreams. Relating an erotic fable of an Arabian princess who escapes her palace to spend lurid evenings with common men, the birds entice the young man toward his own desire. Their elaborate narrative, which unfolds with ambiguous shifts in genders and protagonists, escalates in intensity until it is suddenly interrupted, just before it reaches the best part of the story.

With a marriage built on regret and the suppressed emotions following the death of their daughter, the relationship between the parents in this family has affected their son, his whole life. One family lunch, the son reflects on the memories of his beloved sister and his controlling father. Determined not to let her death haunt him as it does his father, the son choses to embrace the loving memory of his sister to break free from his father's tyrannical control once and for all.

A mixed-media installation project developed based on my video work, ” The first United Ice Cream Assembly closes today ”. I combined static video, live streaming news, found-object-based sculpture and scent together to enrich the context of the alternate world in “The first United Ice Cream Assembly closes today ”. In this project, a sugary scent oil was sprayed on several artificial ice cream installed on microphone stands. The static video and the news live streaming will play together. The former is set to a higher volume, but audiences could hear the sound from the live streaming more clearly when the static video goes to a 30 seconds silent transition before the next loop. The project intends to explore media representations, relationship between our daily life and the media, and how incidents are transformed into information by the media.

A film about the disappearance of something that seemed as though it would always be there: the long-established Maruhachi Yatarazuke pickling company, a shop that bore a key role in the food culture of Yamagata. The Komian Club to which it was attached had supported the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival since 1993, offering a venue for free social interaction. But in April of 2020, it was suddenly announced that the shop and restaurant were shutting down. As the curtain closed on 135 years of business, disappointment spread, along with questions. This film looks at the proprietor who made the painful decision to close the business and at the people who lent support to this space of interaction. It asks what the YIDFF, and what Yamagata itself, meant as experienced through the Komian Club, by filmmakers and audiences from Japan and abroad.

This film is the 5th work of "grained time" series. What I want to express with this series is disassembling and restructuring the human sense. This time, I constructed a series of actions by extracting one frame from hundreds video material. The video materials are shooted in another time, another person of another place. I focus on what is different and what is the same in each frame of the film, and ask what the film is and the boundaries between montage and animation.

«AKSARA MAYA» is a suspenseful drama that deals with time distortion in a setting of a dark period. Appropriating the role-playing game format, the work gathers and reconstructs languages in a world where games and reality get confused, and eventually builds an imagined space. The characters referred to as users here function as shadow writers who lead the narrative. They are noisy yet tenacious and sincere in their roles, allowing us to look at the present more closely and personally through their psychological statements.
