Evgeny Grishkovets: Whisper of the heart

Yevgeny Grishkovets, who “changed ideas about the one-man show genre and even himself became a certain“ genre ”, calls“ Whisper of the Heart ”as his most unusual and most sacred work. “This is my sixth monologue in seventeen years of work, on the plan of which I have been thinking for more than five years, but I have never been given it. Three and a half years ago, I even thought about abandoning him and did Farewell to Paper. However, again and again I returned to “Whisper of the heart” ... It was a time of extremely careful and unhurried selection of words and meanings. ”

Ulyanov about Ulyanov

As film specialists write: "From the roles played by Ulyanov, one can study the history of the country". Through his roles in film and theater, he has reflected all the periods, all the historical collusions of the Soviet Union. He has interpreted more than three hundred roles, from the simple peasant to the leaders and emperors. Being laureate of all state awards, rewarded with orders and medals, cherished by power, being himself in power, he could not "be bronze". Our film is about an actor and a remarkable man: Mikhail Alexandrovich Ulyanov.

Bolshoi Ballet: Giselle

Learning that Albrecht, her beloved, is in fact a nobleman engaged to be married to a princess, the naive peasant girl Giselle dies. The Queen of the Wilis—the spirits of deceased young virgins—decides that Albrecht should follow Giselle to the grave, and condemns him to dance until he dies of exhaustion. But Giselle’s spirit dances with him and saves him. With music by Adolphe Adam and a libretto by Théophile Gautier and Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges, the ballet touches on the great romantic themes: local colour, a pastoral love affair doomed to end in tragedy, a plunge into fantasy and redemption through the power of love.

Unknown 1917

Russian life in 1917 was not limited to civil confrontations, shootouts, demonstrations and rallies. Many people lived, or at least tried to live peacefully and constructively. The great Fyodor Shalyapin sang and staged opera performances in Moscow and Petrograd; director Vsevolod Meyerhold played the Lermontov Masquerade on the stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater, and Anna Akhmatova and Sergey Eisenstein applauded him. The future writer Konstantin Paustovsky eagerly absorbed impressions about the life of summer and autumn Moscow. And in the Moscow region estate Lopasnya-Zachatievskoe a happy accident led to the discovery of the longest manuscript by A.S. Pushkin, who was considered lost. The film is built on cinema and photo chronicles of a century ago.

The Town Festival

The small town of Kalyazin on the banks of the Volga is famous for its bell tower rising right out of the water. More than half a century ago, during the construction of the Uglich hydroelectric power station, half of the city was flooded. Quiet sleepy streets that go straight into the river make this place really special. Like a mermaid who has climbed ashore, Kalyazin anxiously breathes the half-heartedness of his earthly fate. But every day bread is baked, children are born, women bend over sewing machines, men work behind the machines, asserting the desperate struggle of life where it seems that everything is meaningless and fleeting. Like a river along which large elegant steamboats sail past the bell tower, saying that somewhere there is a completely different life.
