Hong Kong, after the city's last social movement, whose end was accompanied by the arrival of the global pandemic. Despite its efforts, the social movement did not triumph, and the city saw its last ‘legal’ demonstration at the end of 2019. Years later, a traveller returns to her hometown, Hong Kong. During her 9-hour stopover in Istanbul, the meeting point between Europe and Asia, she explores the city and whispers her innermost thoughts. The film shows the adventure of uncertainty before coming face to face again with the concept of home.

The eye of a thermal camera in the wilderness doesn’t miss a single heartbeat. But who determines its gaze, and how does it transform the possibilities of vision and shape desires? The asymmetry created by this “enhanced” vision easily lends itself to structures of power and translates into the language of brutality. Found footage, a tribute to Harun Farocki, composes phantom shots from the air and the ground—from hunting videos, police recordings and videos of military operations to promotional materials from technology manufacturers—into a visual reflection on seeing and control.

A house, somewhere or other. In France, probably in the countryside: a few clues give some information, like the age and style of the furniture or the presence of a rabbit. Meagre pickings, and faced with the radical dryness of this barely hospitable short film, viewers may understandably feel offended at being treated with such scant consideration. Robert Taschen will teach them nothing, has nothing to tell them. This roughly sketched portrait is of the man who lives in the house.
