Assets & Liabilities

Zach is a suburban father haunted by the impending arrival of middle age as he juggles the demands of work, family, and the sale of an investment property. When his wife and daughter go away for a short trip, he seizes the opportunity to live out a day as his younger, less responsible self. A spontaneous encounter with a fellow skater feels like a victory until an unsettling connection between the two emerges. The result is a forcible confrontation with his own bourgeois standing that shatters the illusion of Zach’s carefree day and sends it spiraling into dark territory.

Rituals of a Grieving Body

A reflective portrait of a woman navigating life in New York City, this film traces her evolving relationship with loneliness in the digital age. It examines how our collective pursuit for connection through technology has become an inescapable loop, one where the systems we’ve built increasingly mirror our own contradictions. Through the interplay of natural v.s. technological patterns, the story explores the cyclical nature of self-destruction. At its heart, it is a meditation on complicity and control: how individuals knowingly return to the very technologies that harm them, and how humanity, in turn, condemns the machine for reflecting what we ourselves have created.

Now, Irving Rapper

Irving Rapper is, in many ways, Hollywood's forgotten man. After getting his start as a "dialogue director" at Warner Bros. in the mid 30's, he became synonymous with the studio's "women's pictures" and rose in prominence as one of Bette Davis's most consistent collaborators, including on her biggest commercial success, Now Voyager (1942). He was a rebel who led the studio in suspensions for chronically refusing to direct the scripts handed to him by the brass, waiting instead for material that better suited his interests and thematic preoccupations. He was also one in a secretive fraternity of gay directors who had to conceal their identities and shield their private lives from potential public ruination. Daniel Kremer takes you through an unexamined and misunderstood life of a man of great artistic inclination who expressed his innermost yearnings covertly through his work in motion pictures.
