Pharoah Sanders - Live at JazzOpen Stuttgart Festival

In the mid-nineties, the saxophonist was at the height of his art. Spiritual and terrestrial. To many, he remains one of the true disciples of John Coltrane. A mystic impulse that harks back to the Gnawa healer-musicians with whom he engaged in a few historic sessions. Here, we find him in the midst of that period, in an epic concert with guitarist Jean-Paul Bourelly and drummer Trilok Gurtu with his magic sticks. Tracklist: 1. Black Moon 2. Essence 3. Timetable Revolte

Das zehnte Jahr

The story tells of a love which after ten years is beginning to grow old, and of the attempt to turn the imminent end into a new beginning. After ten years of eventful relationship, man and woman have finally decided to say yes to each other in an abandoned railway station on the edge of town. It is the first evening in their new home. Everything is temporary, nothing is finished. The furniture has not yet been delivered, the heating is not functioning yet, the telephone is not connected, neither is the television. They are inescapably confronted with their own selves and with each other. And although, at least at the beginning, they fervently strive for love and harmony, the past catches up with them. When he, as always, seeks to withdraw by taking flight, he discovers that his key does not fit. He is at her mercy. Ruthlessly, they call each other to account.

Der Traum vom grossen blauen Wasser

In his documentary film, Karl Saurer recounts the history of Switzerland's largest reservoir, located near Einsiedeln in the canton of Schwyz. The film brings to life the landscape of the vast Sihl plain, which was flooded in 1937 to generate electricity for rail transport. The dam affected the livelihoods of more than 1,700 people; 107 farms were flooded. Saurer tells a story of colonialism in central Switzerland. In his film, he paints a picture of this event and the associated contradictions and conflicts between the agricultural mountain region and the industrialized lowlands, regional and national aspirations, and economic and ecological interests. Old and new footage and conversations with construction workers and displaced farmers make it clear that the wounds left by the construction and concession in the high valley have not yet healed.
