Galáxias

Can books still change someone's life? To answer this question, the documentary Galáxias tells stories of people from different places in Brazil - Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas, Pernambuco, Amazonas and Distrito Federal - who, on their own initiative, created libraries open to the public in their communities. In parallel to the narrative of these characters, Galáxias travels through several countries listening to intellectuals and ordinary people, seeking to discover what makes a person love a book. What is the power of literature? In what lies the pleasure of reading? What changes will technological advances bring to the book? Galáxias: a reflection on this small, transcendent object and on the people who love books.

Lexter, The Perfect Wave

"Lexter can be defined in a few words: son of a bitch" says Sebastián Wainraich while remembering the protagonist of this generational comedy: a worn-out radio host whose glory days are getting far and far behind. Filtering through the false documentary tone (Clemente Cancela, Sebastián De Caro, and other radio people give their testimonies, which are often filled with admiration) we learn the story of a chance encounter between Lexter and Blas, a communication student who stalks his idol in order to write his graduation paper, and unwillingly stirs up a few ghosts from the past.

The Desert of the desert

'The Desert of the Desert' is a feature documentary about one of the longest-running and least- known colonial conflicts and the plight of the Sahrawi desert nomads of Western Sahara since Morocco's 1975 invasion. Shot in Jan./Feb. 2014 in the Saharawi Liberated Territories of Western Sahara, and in the Saharawi Refugee Camps in Tindouf, Algeria, the film shows the saga of the Sahrawis, their struggle to regain their homeland and the sad paradox of a nomadic people forced to live in confinement. During production, the crew made a rare treck through 3,000 kilometers of bleak and dangerous desert, becoming unwitting participants in the conflict when their jeep was blown up by an anti-tank mine less than a kilometer from their destination on Western Sahara's Atlantic coast.
