In this Borgesian satire on knowledge and technology, bibliophilic desire leads to the construction of a pedal-powered reading machine. Resembling a combination of gymnastic contraption, printing press and early cinematic apparatus, the machine’s purpose remains ambiguous. And like this machine, Terayama’s film connects his work in poetry, motion picture and graphic design by weaving together printed and projected, still and moving images.

A young couple in love is running away from her father, who is forcing her to marry her cousin, when they are confronted by the father and his henchmen. The suitor fights valiantly against the henchmen but is overwhelmed by their sheer numbers. Thinking that her father had killed him, the young woman, pregnant with her suitor's child, jumps off of a cliff to kill herself, but survives the fall and is taken in by a guardian tiger. Living with the tiger and raising her son, the woman sees her young son grow into manhood and he eventually decides to head back to his mother's village to find out what happened to his father and his grandfather.

Directed by Yasuharu Hasebe and based on a story by Kyotaro Nishimura, this short TV film from "Horror Theater Unbalance" blends psychological dread with social reflection. Alongside Okada’s fragile romance with nurse Akiko (Masumi Harukawa), the story introduces a nihilistic subplot where a reckless young couple (Renji Ishibashi among them) engage in a fatal dare that ends in self-destruction — echoing the era’s sense of emptiness and contrasting Okada’s struggle to find meaning in the face of death.

Alan Tang plays an engineering student in Taipei, Taiwan who meets and falls in love with another college student played by Brigitte Lin. Tang is the rich spoiled playboy son of a wealthy builder. When he meets Brigitte, Tang's life changes and he becomes very serious about her. There are many wonderful romantic scenes between the two on the beach and in the country under a maple tree.

Based on a serial novel by Cho Hae-il, "Winter Woman" deals with the sexual awakening of Yi-hwa, the daughter of a prosperous Christian preacher who has been raised to be morally and sexually conservative. The book and film earned the condemnation of conservative critics, however the author's leftist subtext went unchallenged overshadowed by the sexual themes. The film was the best selling Korean film of the 1970s and made a star of its female lead, Chang Mi-hee.

A Chinese fantasy drama

In Manchuria during the 1940's, a karate master named Sazaki and hapkido champion Wang make plans to rob the Korean Independence Army of its funds. However, unknown to them, the money is guarded by one Mr Lee--a grand master of taekwondo.

Emika has been raised by her aunt Ineko, who runs a high-class club in Akasaka. Ineko is backed by Ohashi, a political mastermind, but at the same time, she gives money to Riki, a young aspiring photographer, and has a relationship with him. Riki gets to know Emika and falls in love with her at first sight. When Riki asks Ineko for money to buy a car, Ineko sells Emika's virginity to Ohashi.

Artist Kyeong-pa is asked by the father of a dead girl to paint a portrait of the man's daughter to put her soul to rest. But whenever the artist tries to paint it, a different woman appears on the canvas. The image always takes the form of a woman whom he loved but has also passed away. The ghost of the man's daughter is not very happy that her painting has not been finished and makes her wrath known.

Hong Kong movie

Three men and three women beguile, blackmail, bicker and backstab (sometimes literally) each other all the way to a shock surprise ending, in this death-filled, haunted house mystery, written and directed by Shaw Brothers' Japanese maestro Inoue Umetsugu.

The first installment in the "Video Letters" series, in which two artists exchange images. The story unfolds as each artist incorporates the other's images into their own, like nesting layers.

The 14th and final "Crazy" feature. The Crazy Cats reunited (minus Ishibashi, who had by then retired from the team) for one last feature, Jun Ichikawa's odd Memories of You (Kaisha mono-gatari, 1988) released by Shochiku.
