A transition from total black to total white, dark to the light. The transformation of the image/trace/matter happens through an intrusion of light (gradual opening of the diaphragm), and a change of speed, space/depth. The light takes form due to the image/filter/occasion.

It is a single image, produced by direct bonding on a transparent support of different adhesive products: this mono-image becomes film at the projection.

In Miserere by Miralda and Rossell, pathos and comedy are closely linked to one another. The liturgical songs that they use for long stretches of this short film refer to human suffering and repentance, while the images counter this by referring to industrial animal breeding and lab experiments. The Franco dictatorship in Spain is contrasted with a subversive/surreal series of images using video footage.

This documentary produced in 1973 is a remarkable document on traditional Islamic culture in Afghanistan before the country met with the disasters of ideological struggles and civil war. To a Muslim sensibility, its importance goes much further. It is an objective and respectful testimony to the profound, essential aspects of the spiritual culture of Islam, captured by a Western filmmaker.

Fables have their relevance, particularly when dealing with such delicate topics as politics. This is the story of a retired gentleman with a distinctly British demeanor who buys nine provincial flowers to be planted in his garden. He avoids the fleur-de-lis, which, however, doesn't avoid him. Eventually their attitudes towards each other soften due to the beneficial effects of a watering can.

Shot during the cane workers' strikes in 1975, this first authentically West Indian film bluntly depicts Guadeloupe as it was, thirty years after departmentalization.

"Denain, Blast Furnace of Wrath" was produced with very few means but the film was widely distributed until in Norway where it came to support the strike of steelworkers engaged in their country for the same fight. Only one regret: despite all my efforts to seek funding, I was never able to shoot 'USINES' which would have been the continuation and the observation of this situation triggered in the process with the closure of the Usinor site. Neither Robert, nor Pierre, nor the others, and there were many of them, were never able to speak.

A bird obsessed with motors is attracted by the motor-like sound that insects make in flight and tries to imitate them. Seeing a plane, he perches on it blithely so that he can fly with a motor at last. But the plane has trouble and the pilot ends up taking an unwanted bath in the pond. That frees the bird of his obsession: he begins to fly naturally again and when a mosquito comes back to make fun of him, he gobbles him up.

In Bagaji, a Hausa village in Niger, the Bawra is both village chief and priest for the rain sacrifices. Here he tells of his youth, his travels and his conception of life, and describes the tasks he has to fullfil.

Les Gazolines is a group from the Homosexual Revolutionary Action Front (FHAR) formed in Paris in 1972 and dissolved in 1974. The movement was founded by Maud Molyneux, Patrick Bertaux and Paquita Paquin as a “kind of continuation of FHAR”. The small group stands out for its aesthetic and ideological provocation, and its games on gender. Their rallying cry is “Dick!” Initially, the group was nicknamed the "Camping Gaz Girls". Its members showed a "camp" humor, proclaiming that "makeup is a way of life", or even "Proletarians of all countries, caress yourself” and “Let’s nationalize the glitter factories!” Their behavior often caused scandal, for example when the Gazolines overturned a police van during a demonstration against the destruction of the Halles de Paris or during the funeral of the Maoist militant Pierre Overney. Films such as The Sperm Bank by Philippe Genet and Pierre Chabal testify to their liveliness and impertinence.

Superimpositions, image distortions, epileptic movements... "I", with subjective camera, runs through the mazes of town ruins, trying to escape several infernal noises.

The window serves as a metaphor for looking and watching. The cinematic illusion is redoubled by the uncertainty of the iconic referent. It is a query on the status of the visible. Games and multiplications of the framework generate an impalpable architecture. In a film which is limited by black and white.
