Superfish

The billfish are the biggest, fastest, and most dangerous gamefish in the sea. All have captured man's imagination like few other creatures, whether it's the graceful sailfish, the menacing swordfish or queen of them all, the marlin, immortalized by Hemingway in 'The Old Man and the Sea'. Marine biologist and film-maker Rick Rosenthal has travelled three oceans in his attempt to capture them all on film, and in doing so has become a passionate champion for these endangered yet little-known ocean giants.

This Is Not a Love Song

Heaton and Spike are the unlikeliest pair: two loners who have found each other. When Spike commits a terrible crime, Heaton decides to stand by him - an act of astonishing, almost foolhardy loyalty. There begins a chase across a vast Northern landscape of moors, rivers and dark woods, the increasingly exhausted fugitives being hunted not by the police but by a posse of farmers intent on revenge. No ordinary chase film, This Is Not a Love Song is a love story trapped inside the body of a thriller.

Dave Spikey: Best Medicine Tour Live

Multi award-winning comedian, Dave Spikey, filmed 'Live' on his sell out nation-wide tour. They say that Laughter is the Best Medicine and 'Doctor' D Spikey is here to administer a massive dose straight onto your funny bone. Humour lies in the antics of everyday life and Spikey's 'Best Medicine' is full of brilliant anecdotes and observations it's quite amazing just how funny the world around us really is through the eyes of one of Lancashire's finest. Spikey spent over 30 years in the NHS and so amongst the stories of school days , cheese addiction, monkeys on bikes , llamas on the loose , dancing dobbers and a crash course in 'jollyphonics', he delivers hysterical stories about hospital life including his recent experiences as a patient with a 'below the waist' problem. Our former 'biomedical scientist' bears all and quite literally holds nothing back ...... Dave certainly gets close to the bone but in over 90 minutes of brilliant ramblings he never oversteps the mark HILARIOUS.

Primo

PRIMO was adapted by Antony Sher from Primo Levi's monumental account of his year spent in Auschwitz, IF THIS IS A MAN. When it opened in September 2004 at the National Theatre PRIMO was instantly recognised as a major theatrical event. A work of astounding dramatic power it sheds a light on one of the darkest episodes in human history. Antony Sher's towering performance is as controlled as Primo Levi s own lucid prose. Beautifully directed by Richard Wilson and presented in Hildegard Bechtler's magnificent, symbolist set.

She stood by him in the court case until he was found innocent and then she decided to "make something good of this situation" and left her £16k pa nursing job and hired a publicity agent. This got her some nice work (Richard & Judy for one) and the money was coming in nicely - until a tabloid broke a "story" about her having group sex with Leslie and some strangers. She denies it at first but then milks it by getting £50k for a "confession" to a Sunday paper - a confession she says the papers twisted. However, her denials were for naught when a sex tape showing the whole thing hit the internet. As the old coins can still be exchanged, this is a small but sure coup. While Karl is still laughing at Oswald's naivety, he is already beginning to put his plan into action. The Origins of AIDS

While AIDS may be one of the most feared diseases of modern times, there is still a degree of scientific debate over the subject of just how the disease originated, and how the first cases spread. Two filmmakers explore a controversial theory about the beginnings of the disease. Using interviews, newsreel footage, and documented research experiments, The Origin of AIDS examines how a combination of benevolence, careless lab procedures, and the need of a desperate few to cover their tracks could have led to one of the most serious pandemics of the 20th century.

Owen Wingrave

Margaret Williams directs this 2001 production of adaptation of Benjamin Britten's television opera based on a short story by Henry James. Performers featured include Gerald Finley, Peter Savidge and Josephine Barstow. The conductor is Kent Nagano. As pertinent now as then, OWEN WINGRAVE was composed by Benjamin Britten at the height of the Vietnam War. The opera poses the question: Is pacifism an act of cowardice? Or rather a desire to escape from the spiral of war and create world peace? To what extent do we determine our own futures? Should we let past events inform the decisions we make? Britten’s characters grapple with timeless issues in this gripping psychodrama.
