Danny Baker's Fabulous World of Freak Football

Danny Baker, self-styled professor of football, introduces the freak moments of football - not just bizarre own goals or goal-keeping gaffs - but freak happenings like teams throwing five goal leads, scoring four goals in as many minutes, scorelines of 13-1, staggering refereeing decisions, punch-ups and even supporters running on to the pitch to have a pop at goal. The curious, 'Twilight Zone' like happenings are captured here, and given comic commentary by Brer Baker.

Princess Diana: The Mourning After

In "Diana: The Mourning After" Christopher Hitchens sets out to examine the bogusness of "a nation's grief", tries to uncover the few voices of sanity that cut against the grain of contrived hysteria. His findings suggested that the collective hordes of emotive Dianaphiles sobbing in the streets were not only encouraged but emulated by the media. In the aftermath of Diana's death a three-line whip was enforced on newspapers and on TV, selling the sainthood line wholesale. The suspicion was that journalists, like the public, greeted the death as a chance to wax emotional in print, as a change from the customary knowing cynicism, to wheel out all those portentous phrases they'd been saving up for the big occasion. Sadly, they just seemed to be showboating; the eulogies, laments and tear-soaked platitudes ringing risibly hollow.

Twins: The Divided Self

Award-winning film-maker Antony Thomas examines the growing evidence that how twins turn out has more to do with their genetic make-up than their upbringing in this fascinating, moving documentary. The bitter feud between Tim Nicholas and his identical twin, Todd, was only resolved when Tim shot Todd through the heart. Identical twins, John and Bill Reiff eat together, sleep together, work together, and have known no other relationship throughout their adult lives. These are just two of the extraordinary personal stories that are uncovered during Thomas' journey through the private lives of twins; a journey that ends with a remarkable discovery.

The Calligrapher

With harpsichord music in the background, a dandy, seated at a table, plucks a quill pen from a ceiling full of them above him, dips it in ink, thinks, then draws a straight line down the page in front of him, out of which sprout six more quill pens, each held by a hand. The calligrapher moves all the hands and pens in unison, drawing an elaborate feathered wing, which comes to live, peeling off the page, and, now a quill pen, slips in to his hand. He tucks it behind his left ear.
