Young Peer Gynt returns home once again after unsuccessfully looking for work. His mother already goes to meet him and he describes his alleged adventures to her. In his imagination, he sees himself as a king and escapes reality with his stories. His mother would have liked him to marry Ingrid, with whose dowry they would be well provided for, but Ingrid is promised to Mats and will marry him the very next day. While Peer once again escapes into his world of thoughts while lying in the grass, he is laughed at by the others of the village. They warn him to come to Ingrid's wedding feast, where the whole village is celebrating. But he does not care and there he meets Solvejg, whom he likes very much, but she initially turns away from him. So he kidnaps the bride Ingrid, incurring the wrath of the groom and the rest of the village youth.

Klaudia Wehmeyer, the proud co-owner of a pastry shop, has to stand trial because her manager Müller and her fraudulent partner Lehmann accuse her of embezzling half a million euros. The Theater in der Josefstadt has a new artistic director – actor and director Herbert Föttinger. He kicked off his tenure with the world premiere of Peter Turrini's "Mein Nestroy" (My Nestroy). Turrini, who has evolved from the enfant terrible of the 1960s and 1970s to a classic of modern Austrian literature, takes on Johann Nepomuk Nestroy for the third time, who, incidentally, made his debut at the Theater in der Josefstadt in 1829. "Mein Nestroy" sheds light on Nestroy's tense relationship with his life and stage partner Marie Weiler, which lasted over thirty years. The two leading roles are played by Karl Markovics and Sandra Cervik. The opening premiere is directed by the new director Herbert Föttinger.

"Laughing with Hitler" is a journey into a supposedly humorless time. In the Third Reich, however, the Führer and his Nazi bigwigs were laughed at. The political jokes of the Hitler years were a barometer of true public opinion. But those who dared to make jokes critical of the regime lived dangerously. In the early Nazi era, Hitler jokes were punished as "insidious", during the war even as "undermining of military strength" and the penalty was the death penalty! The conflict with the Nazi authorities ended more mildly for other pranksters: the cheeky cabaret artist Werner Finck was deported to a concentration camp, but was released again.

The year is 1944, Atze and Samuel occasionally operate on the black market, but mostly keep quiet and wait for the Americans to come. When the last German submarine, the U-900, is sent on a final mission, Atze foolishly messes with the general of this mission and has to go undercover. Together with his friend Samuel and the actress Maria, who disguises herself as a man for this purpose, he therefore smuggles himself onto the U-900 and pretends to be the captain. Since he has no idea about seafaring and gives increasingly strange orders, the crew soon becomes suspicious.

The film portrays the final days of the most famous Czech authoress, Božena Němcová, who in the mid-19th century dared to live a life free of social constraints.
