The success of Truck Yaro (1975-1979) initiated a whole load of movies that put "Yaro" in their title, including this semi-bonkers sports comedy/drama. Sonny Chiba's brother Jiro Chiba stars as a Rugby player whose team must find a way to beat the opponent. It's a standard storyline without any major surprises, but works surprisingly well. Training scenes are relatively nuts; much better than the actual matches actually, which tend to go on forever. There is no sex, nudity or graphic violence, making this a family friendly affair. Sonny Chiba appears for about 7 minutes during the last third as a truck driver who comes to Jiro's rescue.

Akane Kawasaki, known for her aversion to physical contact with men, possesses some unfavorable habits such as stealing. Despite these flaws, she garners popularity in the slums due to her compassionate care for children. In an attempt to secure a stable future for their child, she enters into marriage with Tsutomu Yamazaki, who struggles with a stutter. Mio's reputation comes crashing down when a prostitute reports that his penis is like a "guppy". More bad luck follows. His book is banned, and his wife puts him on a short leash. At the height of his misfortune, his house is robbed. Mio meets the robber who turns out to be the Japanese folk-hero Nezumi Kozō. The two become friends, and Kozō introduces Mio to a doctor who can perform penis-enlargement surgery. With his new equipment, Kozō and Mio become frequenters of the red-light district, until the real Nezumi Kozō appears, and evil luck returns to Mio.

Just as Toshiro is taking the frightened Yumi into a room, there's a yell of "Fire!" and people start running. Yumi gets away. Tamaki, with her fire whistle in hand, smiles as she leads Toshiro to bed.

Chu Yuan was a patriotic poet and statesman in ancient China, born over 2000 years ago in the state of Ch'u of the "Warring States" Period, a period of transition from Slavery to Feudalism System. Ch'in, Ch'u, Chao, Wei, Yen, Han and Chi were the Seven States occupying various parts of China at incessant war of annexation with one another. Of the Seven States Ch'in grew most powerful. Vis-a-vis Ch'in's military pressure and Ch'u's political corruption, Chu Yuan advocated alliance with Chi to resist Ch'in abroad, and political reforms at home so as to unify whole China. Chu Yuan's political viewpoint met with sabotage by slave-owning aristocrat bloc, was unable to be carried out in Ch'u. Being so indignant he finally took his own life by jumping into the river. His poems "Li Sao" "Tien Wen" etc. in the development history of Chinese literature, shone with everlasting brilliance.

Hardly great cinema, but undeniably entertaining with frantic pacing, loads of music and even a massive roller blade street chase! As a vision of future, it wasn't too far off if the future was defined as 80s rock, bad fashion and comic book films.
