Ways of Water

Redmires Reservoir in the south-west of Sheffield was built between 1833 and 1854 to provide safe drinking water following the Sheffield Cholera Epidemic of 1832. Made up of three separate bodies of water, the reservoir has a circular bellmouth overflow (plug hole) made from stone, ensuring excess water is safely discharged during increased rainfall. The infrastructure of the reservoir includes many types of technology, such as digital devices powered by solar energy that monitor rainfall and water depth. Drawing attention to the reservoir's thresholds, interface and devices, this film highlights the operational yet vulnerable status of these infrastructures.

For you

'For You' is a heartfelt letter from a father to his two-year-old son, capturing a summer day in the park, a world filled with wonders yet to be discovered and a looming danger. Set in Peckham, South East London, the director narrates the story in Italian, the language he has spoken to his son since birth. This project is deeply intimate and personal, yet carries a universal and resonating message: what lies ahead might be uncertain, but with love, courage, and imagination, we can create a better future.

Dark

Award-winning Faber and Faber poetry-film director Jane Glennie came together with poet James E. Kenward on ‘Dark’, made with Jane’s unique photo-collage style. The soundtrack features a fresh piano-arrangement of Stravinsky’s ‘The Rite of Spring’ dueted with the spoken poem ‘Dark’. Jane took a year to hone her response, in the medium of light, to a poem about the dark. ‘Dark’ has gone on to play in festivals all over the world. There is something magical in the coming together of all the different art-forms in this production. In some ways the film provides a momentary solution to an age old puzzle that is so much a part of our lives. How to be with the dark itself? Must we always reach for the light?
