In a dilapidated apartment, lives intertwine: a lonely, voyeuristic landlady, college student Wan Li, and a provocatively dressed female tenant. Wan Li rents the place for privacy with his ambivalent girlfriend, who later falls for his visiting junior. Ironically, while kissing her, the junior fantasizes about Wan Li himself—sparking a tangled web of unspoken desire and fractured loyalties.

The lives of two young thieves, a mob hitman and a film producer are entangled when the two thieves steal a car that had already been previously stolen to been used as a getaway car.

The film opens with a duel on a beach between two master swordsman. An elderly master looks on as the two battle. He stops the duel and proclaims one swordsman the winner and awards him the coveted Purple Light Sword making him the new Sword King. He returns home to show his sickly teacher the treasure but they are attacked by the weird minions of evil King Gold who wants to combine the power of the sword with his developing Fire Ball power. The Sword King loses the sword, his master is killed and is forced to join forces with his opponent from the duel to retrieve it. Along the way they are joined by the daughter of the Blind Master and later the Beggar Army.

He has a couple of friends (one with no arms, the other with no legs) who help him train using some bronze mechanical horses in a secret room in the temple.

Chie Tanaka, playing herself, meets Huai-chung Wu, whom I presume is playing himself, after she loses her wallet. From that point on, the rest of the movie is about two restless and unhappy people spending the day together, falling in love, and learning to relate to each other without caring that they were strangers that morning.
