During World War Two, two Japanese army soldiers, Fan from Macau and Zheng from Taiwan, observe the Japanese hiding treasure in the mountains of Malaya. They make a treasure map and keep half each. Later, Zheng’s brother finds out Fan has died. The film opens when Zheng’s brother goes to Macau to buy the other half of the map from his friend’s descendants, having sent his niece Shufen (Liu Qing) and son (Ba Ke) to wait for him in Malaya with their half. But after a series of double- crossings and betrayals, Shufen and the boy set off to search for the treasure alone, with the Macau triads and the police in hot pursuit. At their moment of greatest danger in the jungle, the Taiwanese Tarzan (Gao Ming) swings onto the scene to save them.

A man recounts his sorrows over his love that was not meant to be. As China enters its tumultuous period of political upheaval, love begins to blossom for two people on opposing parties.

The emperor, too impatient to wait for his ministers to present portraits of the renowned beauties, had already heard tales of two stunning courtesans working at a teahouse, admired for their beauty but refusing to sell their bodies. Claiming ill health to avoid morning court, he secretly left the capital in disguise to see them with his own eyes. On the road, he was attacked by bandits but was rescued by a young nobleman, who then joined him on his journey.

YU Pi-hsia, mother of three children asks for a favor from CHANG Nieh-tien to save her husband in jail. When YU’s husband is killed, she is forced to marry CHANG. The three children are raised by their uncle, who treats them as his own. Their aunt, however, treats them like slaves. When the uncle discovers she is having an affair, he kills his wife and her lover. Before turning himself in, he reveals to the three children their true identities and tells them to find Da Fu Temple and learn kung fu. The three children begin a journey of revenge and rescue.

Dr. Huang runs a clinic. One day, Mr. Chen moves to next door and opens a Chinese medicine clinic. In the beginning, the two families get along fine and Chen’s son and Huang’s daughter like each other. But when Mrs. Chen proposes the marriage to Dr. Huang, the conflicts between the families explode.

The second part of the folk opera story “Beggar and Rich Girl,” (乞食與千金) a traditional Taiwanese opera. The prequel is titled Beggar Son-in-law (乞食婿郎).

A Taiwanese language film. Adoubo set up a fortune-telling booth by the side of the road. As the business was deserted, so I had to doze off with the pages of the book. A nearby kid tried to hit the sky with a bamboo pole but Aduobo accidentally. Aduobo told the child a myth about Pangu who opened the sky.

The Heroic Lovers from the Tomb was a martial arts movie produced by Hsin Hwa Motion Picture Company in Hong Kong and shot in Taiwan. It tells the story of a gang and two teams of warriors seeking revenge for the murder of their parents. In comparison with The Return of the Condor Heroes written by Jin Yong and published in 1959, it is easy to see the influence of the novel on the film, including the similarities that the disciples are asked to be abstinent, the romance between the hero and the heroine and the Blade-Dance of the Two Lovers.

When female student Chen Jingfen went to Hong Kong to visit her fiancé Bai Kanru, she met Bai's classmate Lin Huaibing. Because Bai was secretly engaged in the work of purchasing and transporting arms for the Communist army, he had no time to take care of Jingfen, and soon she fell into the arms of Huai Bing. Huai Bing was used by a female spy, and his arms were blown up by the enemy. Jingfen was very disappointed with him, and she returned to the mainland to join the death squads...

Tshiu-Bi and her husband Siu-Gi have a seemingly perfect marriage but still have no children. When Tsiu-Bi's friend, Le-Hun, a single mother, is forced to work in a nightclub to raise her son, Tshiu-Bi tries her best to help her. However, unbeknownst to Tshiu-Bi, Le-Hun and SiuGi were once lovers. To avoid complications, Le-Hun decides to move away, only to run into Siu-Gi again in a nightclub. After a night together, Le-Hun becomes pregnant. When Tshiu-Bi learns this startling truth, she makes a surprising decision.

A rural magistracy encounters three scourges that threaten destruction to the entire village: a fierce tiger, a demonic dragon and a criminal convict fugitive who turns out to be the only hope for salvation to defeat the other two evils.

A student secretly works a night job to pay off his father’s gambling debts, and as a result constantly dozes off during classes in the day. When the teacher investigates, a series of family disputes ensues. This is MOU’s first film after graduating from Taiwan Art College. When it was first shown, it drew much criticism and debate.

Clad in white and wielding the deadly Ringing Sword, the beautiful Yeh Chiu Lu wanders the countryside righting the wrongs perpetrated by the White-Haired Warlord, Tsao Tan (Law Bun, "King Of Kings"). Determined to wipe out the Chiang Clan, Tsao Tan sets his swordsman to capture Master Chiang (Kong Ban, "Shaolin Kung Fu Mystagogue"), the last of the clan. Only the Ringing Sword and a mysterious ninja, with his own vendetta against Tsao Tan, stand in his way.

A Taiwanese opera (koa-á-hì) tiayupian by Lee Hsing

A Taiwanese language comedy by Liang Zhefu. On the Barbers' Guild Recreational meeting there were wonderful performances. Xiao Wang and Feng You are enemies off stage, but now they have to perform a magic show together.

The story is based on a play written by famous playwright Yao Yiwei whose work takes adaptation from the novel in Sung Dynasty. The film describes Xiuxiu, a daughter of an aristocrat,who falls in love with her cousin who is a talented sculptor. Nevertheless they experience all kinds of difficulties during the process of trying to get married.

LIU PI-CHIA, a biographical documentary depicting the life of a veteran who joined tens of thousands of others to work on national infrastructure construction projects in the 1960s, is considered Taiwan’s first cinéma vérité film.

There is no dialogue or narration in this "fake" documentary, which has the look of a real documentary, but actually uses actors to portray awakening residents of Taipei as they go about their morning routines. With the camera as our guide we see lively early morning markets, residents going to church, students practicing singing, people exercising, and others heading off to work.

As a single mother and radio singer, she rekindles their romance, but his family forbids her from bringing her child into the marriage. Torn between love and maternal duty, she faces an impossible choice. This Taiwanese adaptation of the Japanese melodrama Flower in Storm reworks its romantic tale of class divide, shifting its focus to maternal sacrifice and female solidarity through a vibrant ensemble cast.

Young Qin Chong fled his home, and was later adopted by the Zhu family, who own an oil shop, but his stepmother frames him and casts him out, forcing him to sell oil on the streets. A chance encounter with courtesan Yao Qin sparks instant attraction. When the Zhu family faces hardship, Qin Chong returns, vowing to achieve success in the imperial examinations, while Wu Ba kidnaps Yao Qin but meets his death in his own mansion, leaving her holding the murder weapon.This adaptation broke from tradition, replacing the usual gongs and drums with a Chinese orchestra for its score, adopting a folk-song style.

Orphan Ling Po is a Taiwanese-language (taiyu) biopic about the eponymous legendary Hong Kong movie star.

A melodrama story co-directed by Bai Ke and Lin Tuan-chiu in Taiyu (Taiwanese language)

A pregnant woman awakes at the start of a day. The camera invites the viewers along with a placid, light-feeling view, as she goes about her day, taking into view unhurried pedestrians, tricycles, a traditional market place, and a plain city still unencumbered by high rise buildings.

Originating from the Taiwanese Opera piece of the same title, the film Sam-phik-Ing-tâi, performed by Bí-too troupe, has preserved several unique theatrical plots and performance style. The film premiered 60 years ago as a commercial release, and contrasted the Huangmei Opera film The Love Eterne from Hong Kong with its vivid characters and humorous dialogues.

Starring Chuang Ling and with cinematography by Hu Qi-Yuan, The Joy of Life consists of closeup shots of technically speaking only four simple gestures of pinching on a sugar cube, drinking coffee, lighting a match, and smoking a cigarette, and it is without any lines or specific plots.

On a morning in 1966, as requested by the director, artist Shiy De-jinn ran around the Renai Road Roundabout, while an 8mm camera tagged along. The runner, wearing a striped outfit, keeps striding forward to some unknown finish line, his eyes looking around from time to time; suddenly, a crowd of motorcycles appears and engulfs him.

This calm, family-centered film documents the first 18 months of the life of the director’s eldest daughter. The film follows the young baby’s faltering footsteps, as she takes account of the wide world through her tiny body, and preserves the cherished moments of the family.

Two soldiers escape from a thunderous battlefield, drifting to a deserted island where they are rescued by a woman. Upon the island, the trio reveal primal desires and savage humanity. The uncivilised setting served as one method of justifying nudity in films of the era, while the castaway trope represented a localised adaptation of prevailing international cinematic trends. The extant version of this film bears the title _Woman Fights to the Death for Love_.

On the sandy shore at Yehliu, a headless human figure is beached and beaten by the waves. As the figure rolls along the sand, it takes on a variety of sculpture-like poses in the endless space where sea and sky seem to join as one. The human-like figure flickers in and out of view between the waves, until her arms stretch out from the vast emptiness and are cleansed.

First short color animation from Linus CHAO (趙澤修), who is a famous painter. Some called Linus CHAO the father of Taiwan animation or Walt Disney of Taiwan. In these freckled, disjointed montages of everyday life, we see a faint hint of an upcoming festival as the theatre troupe sound its drums; the children either sit and gaze, or clamber to see the lead actress. This 8mm roll of film was found after LONG Sih-liang passed away in 2012 and is now shown for the first time in 51 years.
