Wat's Pig

In a Medieval castle, a marauder tries to kidnap the twin infant sons of the lord. He makes off with only one, whom he drops about a mile away. A pig rescues this baby, so one brother grows up high on the hog, the other down with the swine; one is lazy, his lost brother is industrious. Years later, when a neighboring prince declares war, the brother in the castle is too soft to fight. Through happenstance, the twins are united just before the final battle. Will the upper-class brother let his humble sibling lead the troops to certain defeat and death? Preserved by the Academy Film Archive.

The Big Day

On 3rd June 1990, Glasgow's Year of Culture, the city celebrated its association with music in an event called The Big Day, live at various venues across Glasgow including, Glasgow Green, George Square and Custom House Quay. Broadcast on Channel 4 and hosted by City Lights star Gerard Kelly, the line up included The Silencers, Sheena Easton, Big Country, Hue and Cry, Wet Wet Wet and, topping the bill at the Green, Deacon Blue. The central theme on the day was Homelessness. Included in this film are the stories of some of these homeless people.

A girl's childhood in the 1950s with her brutal alcoholic father. This unrelieved melodrama examines the nature of a child's experience of a domineering, volatile alcoholic parent. It is based on an autobiographical account by Carol-Ann Courtney. At first, the girl has some diversion from her intense and frightening relationship with her father in the person of her maternal grandmother, but that outlet is soon closed when her father bans her from their home.
