La boîte à frissons

For decades, Le Tango, a legendary LGBTQ+ dance hall in Paris’s Marais district, welcomed everyone who loved to dance, regardless of gender or orientation. When the building was put up for sale in 2020, its music stopped, threatening to erase a vital community refuge. This documentary traces both the vibrant history and the fierce fight to save this iconic space. Through personal stories from regulars and activists—Grégoire, Giovanna, Christian, Livia, and others—the film revisits nights of drag balls, Dalida tributes, and joyous Madisons, revealing how Le Tango became a symbol of freedom and belonging. As filmmaker Antoine Vergez follows Hervé and the Tango 3.0 collective’s three-year struggle to reopen the club, the film becomes both a love letter to queer nightlife and a chronicle of collective resistance to cultural disappearance.

At a time when events are unfolding at breakneck speed, Martin Weill and his teams pause to help us understand the future that is taking shape before our very eyes.

Better Mont Blanc

In Better Mont-Blanc, Jacques Perconte explores the visual effects and theoretical implications of one of the operations performed by generative AI models: upscaling, or increasing the resolution of digital images. The work is based on historical and contemporary images photographed and filmed around Mont Blanc, the lignite mines of Hambach, foundries, and nuclear power plants in France. The melting of Alpine glaciers is juxtaposed here with infrastructure and techniques for extracting and exploiting terrestrial resources, recalling human activities' expansion, interconnection and standardisation. The work mediates the tension between the irreducible richness of sensory experience and the statistical approximation of AI-generated images. It questions our relationship to progress, effort and the desire to appropriate a world that is disappearing before our eyes.
