Professor Lichtwitz, a successful architect and notorious womanizer, secretly accesses his penthouse via his office. Employee Bodo, assuming Lichtwitz is away, invites dentist’s assistant Stella to the “vacant” penthouse for dinner. Unaware of his boss’s return, Bodo and others, including Lichtwitz’s wife, believe the penthouse is empty, triggering a hectic swirl of mistaken assumptions and visitors.

Little Katrinchen the hen is looking for a nesting place. She escapes an encounter with a fox unscathed by convincing him she's still too thin. A little dog helps her find a safe hiding place. Once the chicks have hatched, the fox reappears. This time, the little hens, with long red rushes in their beaks, chase him away, pretending to be fox-eaters. The chicken thief is finally driven off by the little dog, who proudly displays the fox's tail as a trophy of victory.

Gölge, which means “shadow” in Turkish, is the name of a teenage girl. Gölge is the daughter of Turkish immigrants and belongs to the so-called “second generation” at the end of the 1970s. She lives with her younger sister and her parents in a small two-room apartment in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Gerd Conradt's experimental documentary "Ein-Blick" from 1987 captures the rhythms of daily life along Elsenstraße's border in a time-lapse. Over the course of a day, a camera focuses on a house and watchtower within the border zone, snapping one image per second for twelve hours. What unfolds is a surreal ballet of reality, transforming into a slapstick grotesque, all set to the backdrop of evocative piano melodies.

"The Free Orchestra" is a group of young people who have various careers, and get together in their free time to make music. Improvisation and original hand made instruments mark the group's style. His old "friend" and rival, the actor Karl Tietz, lurks unsuspectingly for the opportunity to stand in for him. Only the young Dagmar Möller seems to trust her great colleague. She makes every effort to help Poller overcome his problem and mediate between him and Tietz. But the battle continues - one wants to destroy the other. In the end, it is Dagmar who is broken by this game of intrigue, which she does not want to play and which she is not up to. However, the two old ladies are back on stage together - in a role that, like so many others, will "irrevocably" be their "last"...

This drama comes from one of Germany's greatest contemporary directors, Peter Lilienthal; and is one of the few to be released outside of the country. It is the story of an Israeli poet's struggle to create in an inhospitable environment. The poet is suffering from severe writer's block and much of the film centers upon the reasons why. Among those reasons is a brother blinded during the Yom Kippur War, the drawn out illness and subsequent death of his wife, and the simpleton son she bore before she became ill. Most of the time the poet blames his son for his inability to write; the father resents having to care for him night and day but he refuses to institutionalize the lad.

In 1938, a young woman leaves Germany to search for her love, Erich, in Reichenburg, Bohemia. The joiner's son notices the passionate love shared between Hilde and Erich. To him, the young lady embodies the feminine ideal. When Hilde receives news of Erich's death, she descends into an uninhibited lifestyle in an attempt to forget.

Two apartments are joined together, the demolition of a wall transfers two small flats into a big one. Seven young people move in and share the living quarters. They all have definite ideas about life and living together and want to make them come true. But they don´t really know what they want. Everyday life causes problems and when a merry-go-round of changing relationships among the young people begins to run quicker and quicker, the constant moving from one room to the other ands before the eyes of the astonished house superintendent with the setting up again of the wall which separated the two walls.
